Should I go to this interview?

Work in a large organisation
Been at my level for 3 years - fairly low level
Very good at my job but unhappy with general managment/feel it's time for a change

Been shortlisted for a job which is next band up
Bit more money

But

I'd be the only one doing the role in the whole organisation
It's a smaller team and worried I won't fit in
It's a new role and last person who did it left after a couple of months- don't think they are quite sure what the role is.

Should I still go?
Or pull out and stick with what I know?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts - I am a highly anxious person and my anxiety clouds opportunities sometimes.

Thank you.

Go - that’s a pretty decent question to ask at an interview (“this is a new role - please could you explain how you see it within the context of the organisation?). You have nothing to lose. You find out more about the job. Even if they offer it to you, you are under no obligation to accept, but you’ll have more information about it.

As above.

Do you know the person who did it and left? Anyone on the team?

Yes I would go to the interview.

@WimpoleHat made a good point. Remember its a two way street and you are also there to decide whether the role is for you. People forget about that.

Yes sorry I was typing quickly and didn't respond. 3 other sin the team - really like one of them, find the other two very different to me personality wise, but they are all incredibly professional which I think for me is the main thing.

Yes absolutely. I think really I'm just nervous because I've got to know my team and I am comfortable where I am so it's more the whole 'change is scary' thing.

Thank you for the replies questions though - it really does help me to see that this is my anxiety at play!

And this job sounds sketchy to say the least.

Definitely meet the existing team for a chat to get the intel on the role
