Just that. No idea what's wrong - been going on for a week on and off - bit dizzy, light headed, feel like I need my glasses more, sick feeling, just want crisps and toast and my muscles in my arms - wow - they feel like they each weigh 10 stone - feels like I've had a flu jab! Sleeping for England. Makes it worse because I'm tensing! And now I've got a twitchy eye,... and freezing. Not sure if it's stress or if there's a weird virus going round (I work in a Uni...). Every time I go on a work call, I want to lie down..... I've read about Covid but apart from a very slight cough in the morning, I don't have any "cold" symptoms.

I'm freaking out a bit....

Sounds like a virus and you would be best to take some time off to let yourself recover

SuffolkBargeWoman · 08/10/2026 12:37

Definitely a virus with muscle aches, nausea, freezing cold, doing the rounds.

Greatexpect · 08/10/2026 12:38

I would get to the GP with those symptoms.

And even more worrying - I don't fancy my beloved pineapple...

Yes, me! Currently sitting on the sofa wondering why I can’t motivate myself to get up when I’m not really feeling ill. I just have a cough, slight headache, aching limbs and I’m really tired with no “get up and go”

Is that a euphemism?

Not sure I've got the energy for any other pineapple activities...

Covid innit. Lots of it about.

Openmouthinsertfood · 08/10/2026 12:51

Could be severe anemia, get thee to the doctors asap.

Agatha1989 · 08/10/2026 13:02

I’d seek medical advice.

catkate10 · 08/10/2026 13:12

I posted on another thread a few weeks ago, with similar symptoms. I felt as though I had had several flu jabs in my upper arms, it was really strange, also felt spaced out and very low. I mostly felt quite sick, but a couple of times was starving! No cold symptoms. It lasted, probably about 10 days, then disappeared as quickly as it came.

Think yourself lucky - I've gone off chocolate.😮

There does seem to be a really weird virus going around at the moment, and exhaustion and nausea seem to be some of the main symptoms. And, bizarrely, a desire for crisps.

Feeling exactly the same way although it’s my legs that ache. I could sleep for a week. I’m assuming it’s viral

Excitedannie · 08/10/2026 13:55

I'm reassured that I'm not alone - sorry to those of you suffering too. It's a strange set of symptoms! I've also got stressy situations at work and I lost my beloved dog last week in traumatic situation so I wonder if it's all connected. I've contacted the GP on advice from this thread so I'll see what they say

Sounds like a cold setting in, i had it a few weeks back it knocked me out for a week.
Protein shakes was my living for 3 straight days then i had a bun on the 4th day.

VenusStarr · 08/10/2026 14:08

Yes! I slept for 9 hours last night, couldn't get up and feel like I could go back to bed. Achy and feeling generally bleugh. No cold symptoms but a weird tight feeling in the bad of my throat and across my chest and back. Very odd.

TheFormidableMrsC · 08/10/2026 14:10

I had something similar a couple of weeks ago. Ached all over, tummy pain, nausea and then I had a horrible fever while shivering cold. It was gone in 48 hours. I work in a school so not surprising.

Excitedannie · 08/10/2026 14:10

GP has just come back to me and said to rest, take it easy and take ibuprofen and paracetamol- sounds like there's something doing the rounds

OP posts:
NeighbourShagsParkingSpace · 08/10/2026 14:15

Yeah, all of these symptoms.
Banging headache, aching bones, cold shivers.

Took a covid test and it was an instant positive.

DH had it last week but didn't test. Loads of the kids in school also have similar symptoms.

I think confirmed covid cases are up around 70-80% this past week.

Sorry for your loss. It’s just so awful. 💔

I have had the same symptoms for two weeks now, a sore throat too.

Pudmyboy · 08/10/2026 14:41

I had the flu jab on Monday and a few hours later, felt a bit dizzy, a feeling which has persisted, and also tired, I slept in for an hour longer than usual today.
I thought it was side effects from the jab but maybe it's a different virus (before anyone says it, I know the flu jab is not a live vaccine and cannot give an illness, but it can have side effects).
Anyway, and a bit peversely, I am glad I am not alone!

daisyydaisyy · 08/10/2026 14:44

I have all this and I can’t sleep. I’m exhausted. Now seeing that I should go to the gp! Can’t really take any time off work at the moment.

No need to go to the GP especially as you are well enough to work. It’s just a virus

maddiemookins16mum · 08/10/2026 14:52

Yep, I’m on day 4 of this. Started on Sunday - so incredibly tired, muscle aches, feeling as if someone is pressing a concrete slab down on my head. Both Covid tests I’ve done are negative. I’m on day three of sick leave (for the first time in 18 years). Scarily I was 8 stone 11 on Sunday (my normal weight) and today I’m 8 stone 7.8!

Applepe · 08/10/2026 14:52

I feel exactly like that, but I’m on my period. I’m on HRT and up until now my periods were quite light, but this period has knocked me for six. Currently sat on the couch with a hot water bottle and some Aldi mint Bubbly.
