Books on Resilience

I need to mentally toughen up to face a potential life changing event. I want to prep myself in case it happens.

Can anyone recommend a book on resilience in general - preferably not too long or too American (no offence, but some American self help books don’t land with me).

Or failing a book recommendation- any useful websites.

Thanks

Not a book, but keeping up my iron levels makes the biggest difference to my general resilience.

Not sure of books. But I think with resilience it's a case of one foot in front of the other. I can cope with this hour, then this morning, then this day, this week etc.

Also lots of outdoor time, walking and exercise. Lots of distraction so you successfully cope. The more you cope, the more you continue to.

Emotional Intelligence by Susan David
also look up "distress tolerance"

Also, it's ok to talk about the challenge you're facing but don't dwell on it with the person you're chatting to.

A brief "Yeah it's not been an easy week because of a, b and c but it'll be ok eventually." will train yourself in resilience better than a long drawn out conversations.

DrLucyHone.com - has written some books, she's based in NZ.

I recommend The 3 secrets of resilient people (Ted talk on YouTube).

TW she mentions the death of her daughter and how she used her research into residence to cope. Trust me, it's worth a watch.
