Next doors barking dog scaring my pets

I have bunnies. I've had issues with next doors dog barking frequently throughout the day and into the evening and ended up going to the council. It all quietened down for a while until recently the other day it was rubbish and today has been relentless.

My bunnies get scared when the dog is barking. I get so bloody angry because they can shut it up when they want to. I am so frustrated and pissed off that it's scaring my own pets.

Time to go back to the council.

And what did your neighbour say when you went to speak to them about reaching a compromise?

I hate this cliche, passive aggressive reply.

You hate this reply because it highlights the fact you haven’t even had a grown up conversation with them about it.

No, I hate it because it’s the same sentence trotted out again and again. If you want to rudely make a point, at least have a go at using your own words.

Further to your other post insinuating I haven't had a grown up conversation with the neighbours. Do you know me? How would you know such a thing or are you jumping to conclusions?

I spoke to the male on several occasions. He apologised and agreed they needed to start training but hadn't due to their illnesses. I also spoke to him at around 11pm one night as he was coming back from the pub. He was dismissive then. He also said that night that the other dog had just died and that is why other dog was barking so late. She barked regardless of situation and other dog hadn't died, I saw it, so bizzarely he lied.

Last time I spoke to them, he was very dismissive and told me to 'carry on with the bloody council', meaning me to carry on reporting them to the council. He then said he was very busy and barged past me.

Are they outdoor rabbits or indoor? I've got an indoor rabbit, got 2 dogs. When they bark rabbit bangs his feet in the hutch. Dogs soon stop.

Indoor.

That sounds very cute! I don't think their dog or they would hear mine thumping their legs through the dogs barking.

The council did install a sound recorder and the neighbours kept the dog much quieter that week than usual and the council said it was just very slightly under the threshold but have offered to leave the sound recorder again for a week.

I wondered if it would be worth leaving the neighbours a letter? I am desperate now and was feeling like my heart was beating out of my chest yesterday with all the barking and trying to work my stressful job. I considered harming myself. That's how badly it affects me.

Would a letter be worth it?
