Posted here for traffic! Please can i have all your London tips! Hate cities but we have 6- 7 hours before we need to be at wembley.
I’ve booked the tower, for a couple of hours would also like to take a boat around the landmarks, National History Museum for an hour and maybe hard rock cafe? Is this remotely doable! Haven’t been since i was younger! thanks in advance ❤️

You likely won't get all that done in the time you have. In your shoes I'd prioritise either the NHM or the Tower. My personal preference out of those two would be the Tower of London and a ride on the Thames Clipper up to Victoria Embankment (Westminster) and then a bus to the Hard Rock. Then a bus to Marylebone and the overground to Wembley.

Dilemma999 · 05/10/2026 23:34

You won’t get all that done - you’d be exhausted by the time you got to Wembley. I prefer the NHM to the Tower but if you’re new to London it’s interesting to see the Tower and take in the river views. Take the Uber clipper boat a few stops up the river then stop for a drink/bite and take in the atmosphere.

MyDuvetDay · 05/10/2026 23:34

That is WAY too much for the time you have IMO. Travelling between those locations (+ queuing etc.) would take a lot of time. And what about stopping to eat??

In your shoes, I would stay in West London. Kensington Gardens > Natural History Museum > lunch/tea in South Ken. All walkable. Then head to Wembley.

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 05/10/2026 23:37

Absolutely no chance! The Tower of London and the museums are a long way apart. Do Only ONE. How are you getting to Wembley? If you just go to the Tower you can go on the Thames to Embankment and then up to Marylebone or Baker Street for the Metropolitan line to Wembley. Don’t go to the museums. Travel can take a long time and so does visiting the Tower and waiting for a boat!

No it's not remotely doable in 6-7hrs. Google the travel times between locations. Travel time will be longer than usual since you're unfamiliar with the city. Pointless to go to NHM for an hour, unrealistic to think you'd get in, eat, pay, and out of the Hard Rock Cafe in an hour.

LateNightOne · 06/10/2026 00:37

You need to focus. It's way too much.

AlwayAnxious · 06/10/2026 00:42

Nope. No way will you get all that done.

TonTonMacoute · 06/10/2026 11:18

One attraction, meal somewhere (nicer than the Hard Rock Cafe, please) will be all you have time for

Raiderofthelostbattenburg · 06/10/2026 11:31

An Ideal London day for me, would be one big attraction (I actually really like the Tower), then a long leisurely walk down the South Bank stopping for food, and taking in the sights. Maybe popping up for the view from Tate Modern. I think London is such a great city for just mooching about in, so, don’t put too much pressure on yourself to cram too much in. Have a great time!

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 06/10/2026 11:40

@Raiderofthelostbattenburg Op doesn’t really have a day though. 6 hours and then to Wembley isn’t a day. It’s not much more than a morning and lunch then travel.

exexpat · 06/10/2026 12:49

I had no idea the Hard Rock Cafe was even still going - why would you want to go to an overpriced tourist-trap chain with mediocre food (based on when I last ate in one a decade or so ago), when London has so many more exciting places to eat with much better food?

I agree that it's way too much to do all you have planned. Do the Tower if you have already booked it, then boat along the river, find somewhere nicer to eat (even the chain restaurants along the South Bank would be better than HRC), and make your way up to Wembley.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 06/10/2026 12:51

Tower alone is a couple of hours if you do it properly.

You’re right - I didn’t really register also travelling to Wembley.

If it was me, OP, I’d spend the morning at the Tower, then cross the bridge and wander down the South Bank, getting street food for a late lunch.

LIZS · 06/10/2026 19:20

There is a Tower of London boat trip, takes about 40 minutes.

TheRealSmurfette · 06/10/2026 22:14

There are so many better places to eat!

SummerInSun · 06/10/2026 22:17

What everyone else said! You can easily spend four or five hours at the Tower of London alone if you are into history, and have lunch or morning or afternoon tea there. There to Wembley will take an hour at least.

Redplasticboat · 06/10/2026 22:18

The Tower is a whole day by itself if you actually want to see it properly. You will never fit that and NHM into the same day.

VointofPiew · 06/10/2026 22:19

Have a walk along the canal, pub, lunch, and then whatever you have booked. You won't want to be doing all that. People watching is far more interesting and the food will be better, too.

Shloopie · 06/10/2026 22:21

Hard Rock Café. Are we back in 1987?

Pick one touristy thing to enjoy at your leisure, and somewhere better to eat.

Seeline · 06/10/2026 22:37

What are you going to Wembley for? A day in London tourist spots is exhausting in itself! Then concert/match? in Wembley and then getting to where afterwards?
Are you arriving in London that day or staying over the night before?
I hope you haven't got small DCs with you too ...

Havealovelyday · 07/10/2026 22:02

Download the citymapper app. It will give you a better idea of the time it takes to get between all your ideas (by tube/bus/walking/taxi). It’s absolutely brilliant.

Menmy3 · 09/10/2026 22:57

Just wanted to jump back on and say your were right i was being unreasonable 🤣🤣
we did green park, buckingham palace, big ben,
h of p. Jumped on a boat cruise, hour in the tower and tube to wembley! Thanks so much for all the advice x x x

Please go somewhere better than HRC. It’s utterly shite and you may as well be anywhere. London has some incredible and affordable restaurants.
