STOP THE WEDDING!

The song “Stop the wedding! ” (linked) by the artist Ashe has been completely dominating my social media (and my brain!) the last few weeks!

It’s about a woman who comes to her senses just before entering marriage that she knows isn’t right. So, I’m curious, does anyone have any stories along these lines?

Had a near miss where you called it off last minute?

Left someone at the altar?

Been the one to stop a friend/family member making a terrible decision?

side-note preemptive of the annoying ‘never heard of her’ comments, no; you maybe you haven’t, this is probably her biggest breakout although you probably haven’t heard her voice before as she’s had some pretty popular songs in the last few years. Check her out she’s great! — Although that’s not the point of this thread!

I think it’s an annoying song and repeats itself too much.

@sosomewhereelse you sound like a journalist trying to harvest stories 🤔

Why have you written your post on the style of a daytime TV advert,?

At least she hasn’t ended the post with Love to hear everyone’s experiences!

Maybe don't fashion your post like a journalist phishing and people will engage.

ShopCake · 06/10/2026 06:44

You first, OP.

I wrote I short post and asked the questions I wanted to ask!

I don’t have one.

Doesn’t make it wrong or unnatural to have curiosity about people’s stories

No, but when you write like a journalist looking for stories, it tends to make people reluctant to share.

Oh ffs I wasn’t writing ‘like a journalist’ I was writing like a person who had questions a thought and wanted to hear people’s experiences , and posted it on a chat forum where people often get criticised for writing ‘too long’ posts or derailed an hijacked about spelling and grammar !

This doesn’t answer your question, sorry, but I honestly can’t stand that song. They play it on repeat on radio 2 and it’s so grating.

Fair! I like it , was your dislike instant or is it more because you’ve heard it so much?

Mediocre song. But good luck to her.

TremendousFlatulence · 06/10/2026 07:13

Terrible song and I'd never heard it before. I didn't think it was possible for anything to be more irritating than that silly woman whining on about being on a train back from Boston yet here we are.
