Do many posters use chatgpt/AI to write posts?

Does anyone use chatgpt to post threads?

I haven't used it in this case but I do use it if I'm finding it hard to explain something or if I want to be more Anonymous and not risk being recognised though writing style. Mostly I will write what I want to say and then ask chatgpt to tidy it up polish itba little.

Yes, some do, it's very obvious and quite annoying

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 03/10/2026 15:33

It’s getting more frequent but if you point it out you’re “jealous”.

KermitsABadInfluence · 03/10/2026 15:33

I've been accused of it once, I didnt bother defending myself though, I'm ND, not AI 🤣

Hotandpointy · 03/10/2026 15:35

I wouldn’t even know how Blush

OhBumBags · 03/10/2026 15:36

I’m not great at spotting it and have never used it.

But I wonder if the spelling and grammar police who unfortunately still frequent the forum, are inadvertently encouraging it?

JoSFry · 03/10/2026 15:36

Sometimes but I always say before hand in that I’ve had little time or rambling thouggts and AI pulls it together but I don’t ask it to change the content. I always state AI has helped me pull this together.

SilenceInside · 03/10/2026 15:38

Some people do, and some AI bots post on here too. I’ve been accused of using AI which was ridiculous. I think some people can’t believe that some of us are capable of looking up information, reading it and presenting it in a post without using AI.

I wish people wouldn’t use AI as for me, it produces lengthy waffle text that is hard and long winded to read. I find the turn of phrase they use to be unnervingly unnatural. I don’t know why people think it helps them put their point across. I don’t think it does!

Rituelec · 03/10/2026 15:38

No, and I spot it immediately.

Certainly there's a lot AI replies in a very distinctive style. The first paragraphs repeat the problem back at the OP.

"You have done this and thought this, then this happened and now you're wondering how you should...."

That's odd why would you be jealous?

Yes that's how I use it. I do say chatgpt helped me. Partly because people can sometimes tell and I want people to know I'm real. I sometimes get torn if I should mention it because i know people don't like it. But it helps me to explain things cleaner and in some sort of order.

No, I don’t choose to use AI. I am aware I use it via third parties but I will never choose it independently. The AI threads are irritating as fuck, as are people who reply to any posts with ‘this is what chat gpt says…’

SwedishEdith · 03/10/2026 18:53

I think if you're clear you used it, that's maybe less problematic. But if I sense AI was used to write a post, I'll tune out.

Problem is, AI posts tend to be repetitive (rambling) and much longer than is necessary to make the point, so they get pretty boring. Also there's no guarantee that the language AI chooses expresses the poster's real feelings. When a long AI OP is followed by shorter posts by the real person, these are usually much more revealing and relatable.

That doesn't happen with me at all. I think it depends how its used. I just asked it to re write my op and it said this.

haven't used it in this case, but I do sometimes use ChatGPT if I'm struggling to explain something clearly, or if I want to be more anonymous and don't want to risk being recognised by my writing style.

Usually, I'll write what I want to say myself and then ask ChatGPT to tidy it up and polish it a little.
