Does anyone else find digital newspapers less enjoyable than print?

I have an online newspaper subscription (The Times) but have realised that I don't really "enjoy" the papers like I used to when they were in print.

I seem to treat it more like a chore, flipping past things without giving them a try.

When I had print copies I would sit at the table and take most of each page in.

The cost is half, of course, and I don't have the faff of actually buying the thing.

I am thinking of getting a cheap tablet to enable easier reading than on a phone.

I know this is a first world issue - hence in chat!

I have only read The Times on my iPad for years. I can’t cope with the typeface/ font size of the printed paper. We used to have the printed paper as well which DH would read and then it went to my mother who read it more carefully than either of us. When she died we made the difficult decision to only have an online subscription. It felt like the end of an era but it has worked out well for both of us.

Thanks. I might see if I can get a cheap tablet for Christmas just for this purpose!

I used to love a Sunday paper. It was ritualistic. I don't bother now. I read or look up news I've heard about that I want to know more about but there is none of that working my way through the whole paper.

On the rare occasion that I wish to look at something in the news, it is annoying when only some of the articles are hidden behind a pay-wall. At least you don't get that with a printed newspaper!
