Oversubscribed schools

I am not safely in the catchment for my nearest schools, which are oversubscribed and already above capacity. When a school is oversubscribed, I think it means it was listed as any choice, not just first. There are schools I will list as a lower priority, which are further away, purely to minimise the risk of being allocated somewhere random. I don’t actually want them, they’re a reluctant back-up, so if most people do this, it doesn’t give a full picture of how oversubscribed a school truly is.

How can I find out how many applicants placed particular schools at the top of their lists? The school I like most could be someone else’s fourth choice.

My council publishes data on 1st, 2nd, 3rd choices etc. on their website.

But useful for you if you’re out of catchment might be the data on how far away the furthest child given a space was for the past few years.

@MellowSubmarineFor each school or generically? That’s good. Mine says the percentage of people who got their first choices.

Thanks, I have looked at furthest distance too. However, I didn’t get my closest primary which is only a couple of hundred metres away, due to it being such a high sibling year.

Mine does it for each school, how many people put it down for each choice. It’s a download on their school allocation page.
