Bleeding just found out I have a cyst

Posting in here for traffic.

I'll start by saying I have terrible anxiety so I don't know if anxiety is amplifying how I feel. I'm also 49 and in peri, taking Desogestrel so haven't had a period since I don't know when.

On Monday I had to have a trans vaginal scan, was told I have a large cyst on my right ovary and would be referred back
to GP for referring on to gynae.

Yesterday I spotted slightly. Today I have been hot all day, stood in front of a fan dripping with sweat at times but just HOT all day. An hour or so ago I went to the toilet and the spotting is now more of a light period, I have mild cramping and heaviness and I do keep getting the odd twinge on the right hand side.

Im now panicking, anxiety keeps taking over and I keep feeling faint and lightheaded and sweaty and just anxious.

The rational side of me is saying don't panic, you're not in agony, soaking through pads or need pain relief. Contact GP in the morning.

The anxious side of me is freaking out, I'm terrified of hospitals and procedures and can't quite seem to get myself calm.

Ok, stop panicking! If it was twisted you’d be in a lot of pain. Perhaps call the non emergency line for real advice, but it could just be your hormones being wild, like they are in peri. Dis they say how large the cyst is? Is it a simple cyst or don’t they say? I currently have a cyst too,
on 54 and it’s 6.5cm at
the widest part. I had another one 20 years ago that was I think was 22cm at the widest part part, they removed that one of course but the current one they’ve said they’ll wait as I don’t want surgery unless it was necessary. Good luck and hopefully it’s a bug but do get support through 111 /GP

I’ve had a couple of simple cysts found when they’ve been looking for other things and both have just disappeared by themselves which is quite common.

Your light cramping may be from the scan as I sometimes find them quite intrusive if (quite rightly) your stressed and can’t relax - hard to explain but if you can relax they’re easier (can you tell I’ve had a ton).

If you’re anxious I’d contact your GP this morning or speak to the gynaes PA, mine are really good and will help as much as they can.

Thankyou both I'm definitely having some kind of hormonal issue. Last period I noted on my app was 7 months ago. I've still got light flow and cramping this morning but I am so hot all the time. It's like my internal thermostat has been cranked up and can't switch off.
I don't know the size of the cyst the sonographer didn't say. She just said a large cyst but she's seen larger.
