Do you sell stuff on Facebook marketplace? Have you ever just left a conversation and blocked someone?

I am selling a freezer on Facebook marketplace. Only £40 as I want it gone. Advert clearly states priced to sell, no offers. Lady messages and offers £30. Tells me she has cash ready. I tell her no, £40 no offers. She says ok but can she come at 7.15 am tomorrow as she works nights and wants to come on her way home. I haven’t replied yet but it’s not hugely convenient as we are all getting up and ready. In the meantime someone else has messaged and can collect this evening. I would quite like to just leave the conversation with the woman then block her so she can’t hassle me but is that really bad of me? I can’t be arsed with it I just want the freezer gone. What would you do? Chat

I would reply that someone has collected it tonight rather than block her.

Yes but I am a bit scared 😂

I’d also tell her it’s been collected if you sell to the other person, no blocking required

Yes all the time. Can’t be arsed with half the people on there I sell to the first person who offers what I want and doesn’t dilly dally about collecting. Anyone who says “cash ready” gets on my nerves and are ignored automatically.

See this is my attitude. Spent ages cleaning the sodding thing too. Will see if the other person wants to collect this evening.

Yes see what happens this evening. If they are a no show tell her she can collect tomorrow but you have others buyers waiting so it’s tomorrow am and full price or not at all.

My husband blocks people all the time when they make stupid offers. Also when they ask for the measurements of an item (clearly stated on the ad). You just know that they're going to be time wasters.

slawandskinnyfries · 30/09/2026 18:15

I told her someone was coming this evening and she got all arsey. So she is now most definitely blocked. Why would you think being rude was a good way to get what you want?
Thanks for the solidarity 😊

Hopefully the other person turns up!

APlagueOnBothYourHouses · 30/09/2026 18:46

Cash ready. 🙄 Does she think the other people are turning up with a bag of magic beans or something?

Just tell her it’s sold and collected. Then when it’s been sold and collected and you end the listing, all your messages with her will disappear on both ends so take a note of her name and then block her.

funmamamoo · 30/09/2026 18:48

My favourite is when they make a low ball offer and then ask me to deliver it to them 😂😂

SnapAndTap · 30/09/2026 19:25

Does she have your full address? Absolutely no issue if not (I give postcode, not house number initially). If shes got your address, not so brilliant, but take it as learning for next time.
