Had anyone had a pessary to deal with prolapse? Can you tell me what your experience was and whether it helped? And does it help with stress incontinence caused by prolapse?

I’ve been using one since childbirth 20 years ago and it is a life saver, even after two “repair” surgeries.

The one thing I noted it that even models which look very similar can fit very differently, and the wrong style, size, or positioning means it won’t work to lift that prolapse.

The pessary material does disintegrate over time, and I need a replacement again but I have to go privately as the waiting list here is several years long, and I can’t wait any longer. It should have been replaced after menopause anyhow, as the fit would have changed due to hormonal changes.

Thank you @aLittleWhiteHorse! Does having a pessary mean you can do normal activities without discomfort? Do you still feel the prolapse at all?

I have a ring pessary for prolapse and it is hugely helpful. I think I have one called a digitiser which is made of firm silicone. The clinic aren’t always happy about me having it because it’s expensive, but the alternative is a cheap hard plastic one that I didn’t like. The size does need to be correct. I am under the pessary clinic which is nurse-led and the nurses are wonderful. They give great advice and always make me feel better! I would recommend it. I am able to do normal things without feeling the dragging sensation, but I am still careful about lifting as if I lift something heavy eg a child, I can feel it.

Yes, I am much more comfortable when wearing it, and much less incontinent. I had to persuade the clinic to work to find the right version that worked for me however.
