How do your DC listen to Music (Apple)

We'd like to get the DC something that they can:
listen to music on in their rooms - good quality sound - streamed from phone
listen to the radio
serve as an alarm clock
without them needing their phones in their bedrooms, so AirPlay enabled.

Do your DC have a similar set up? What brand speaker and amp(?) do they have? DH is the musician here and speaker quality is very important to him! He can't find anything that ticks all the boxes and has asked me to have a look.

We have a HomePod in the living room (we all have Apple devices and Apple Music) but he would like them to have a better quality speaker as apparently the sound isn't great through it. I can't tell about the quality but thing DC does need an alarm option.

So if the music is streamed from a phone, but they won’t have a phone in their room, how are they choosing and playing the music?

Ours are older now and tend to listen to music on Spotify - played through their Alexa or on our Sonos speakers. We have a variety of vintages of Sonos speaker and on the newer ones you can just talk to / shout at them and ask them to play music or radio “play radio 4 please” etc. I think we installed various radio and Alexa apps on the Sonos speakers.

Alexas do the alarm clock but tbh I wouldn’t focus too much on that as you can always just get an alarm clock.

I think it’s hard for them to get into music without being able to browse and choose it though. It was only when we got a family Spotify setup with their own accounts that they really got into different music. You could use old locked down phones and remove everything apart from the music and audiobook apps?

The idea is that at certain times they can listen to music but have no phones in their rooms. They can stream a playlist they've made previously. They have plenty of other opportunities to listen and choose music, but we want them to have evenings without their phones in their rooms.

Alarm clock has been tried but it turns itself off after a certain amount of time.

Sonos was one we looked at so good to hear a recommendation!
