Virgin Media - issues with remote working

Working remotely, I am currently unable to access the shared drives at work. My employer states that this is not an issue at their end, and is caused by an issue with the network provider, which is Virgin Media. Other colleagues in the organisation using VM were in the same situation apart from one that I know of.
My Wifi appeared to be functioning normally. I was able to access other applications which require an internet connection, just not the shared drives.
Apparently the issue is affecting VM users across the country.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue?
Does anyone know what sort of internet provider problem would make it appear that Wi-Fi is functioning normally but not allow access to shared drives?
The download and upload speed appeared to be normal too.
Thank you

It sounds to me like there is a block between VM and the shared drives wherever they are hosted

this might be an accident - a config problem - or it may be that unusual activity has been detected and VM is blocking it on purpose for security

I am assuming that people with other providers are having no problems?

In which case you could hotspot your mobile to act as a router to access the shared drives temporarily?

Thanks for your reply. Yes I did use a hot spot in the meantime to get access, I was just wondering if anyone else was having a similar issue and whether it really was a nationwide issue.
Also hoping that someone with more knowledge about this sort of thing might be able to shed some light to help get to the bottom of it (I had doubts about whether it really could be a VM issue)

Whatever it was ( and the cause still seems unclear) it looks like it has been sorted out now thankfully
