Advice for a recurring fissure in the genital area

Name change for this!

Basically for a number of years I’ve had a recurring fissure just above my clit- I guess on the clitoral hood?

I have been to the GP many times and they’ve prescribed me so many various creams - Epaderm, daktacort, thrush ointments etc. They have ruled out skin conditions. I have genital herpes so I know it’s not that (it’s not blisters / sores, it’s literally like a paper cut). I’ve been told before it happens because of dryness. I haven’t had it for ages but this week it’s re-appeared again.

I was wondering if the wonderful power of Mumsnet could help? I’ve been recommended just plain old Vaseline? Any advice would be much appreciated!!

Has lichens sclerosis been ruled out?

How old are you, you could try oestrogen cream?

I have a recurring “weakness” in that general area also. I slabber petroleum jelly around the area after a shower, and at night use a topical oestrogen cream that I was prescribed for dryness.

Seems to work at keeping it at bay.

Either oestrogen creams or, my GP says just use Vasoline/petroleum jelly.

I am mid 30s so don’t think it’s hormone related. Maybe I should try Vaseline. It’s a bit sore at the moment!

Can you spot any patterns in relation to showering, underwear or clothes choices, temperature of the day, where in your cycle you are, sanitary towels, any exercises (gym bikes) or sexual activities? Is it possible the cause is friction, hormones, chemicals?

I had something similar. Id had sores at the side of my mouth for months which were cured in a few days with athletes foot cream so I tried that & it worked.
Must have been caused by the same type of fungal infection.
