Dubai ?

I may have the opportunity to travel to Dubai for a short holiday sometime next month. I haven't heard much since the issues earlier this year - it all seems to have gone quiet on the news. Wondering on how safe it is to travel there, and generally as a female in the country?

There is always the risk of Trump doing something that affects air travel.

I'd ask you to think about not visiting a place where lesbians and other same sex relationships are criminalised.

There are other places you can visit for sunshine and relaxation.

A very valid point - and this is a very big reason I'm pausing on my decision to go.

I wouldn't. Things aren't exactly 100% stable there. God knows what Trump will do next. And of course there's a whole host of moral reasons for not going even if you don't care about potential missiles and flight cancellations. Otherwise, it's considered one of the safest places for lone women travellers, obviously so long as you don't break the law or do anything outrageous.

Its not somewhere I would want to go personally but if you want to go then absolutely go people go all the time and are fine

zoeslim · 29/09/2026 12:39

it as boring as hell

I find it a really uncomfortable place to visit. We have family there so visit regularly and it’s just … ugh. Bland, culture less, and full of people trying to persuade themselves it’s amazing.

It’s about as morally repugnant as any Western country in this day and age, so in that sense, you’re fine.

If you ignore the social media wannabes, and the plastic parts of town it can be a very interesting place to go and obviously great food and weather. Try and get to some of the other Emirates as well as they are very different. As a woman its certainly safer than the UK, I hate walking round my UK city at night.
As for Trump and his antics....who knows but maybe have a an emergency fund if case you do get stuck.

I was there 4 weeks ago, and it was absolutely fine. Roasting hot, bustling and I had a great time, I felt completely safe and confident.
