Fixing energy prices. Just looking to see what otehr people are expecting to pay from 1st October. Thanks

I have been paying SV rate until now and I'm looking to fix in light of the up coming rises.

My current provider is suggesting DD for gas and electric that seem quite high tbh. I'm aware it takes into account the 4% increase now and anticipated further 20% increase in January. Just still seems high to me! 😮

I live in a 2 bed victorian terrace. Not heavy on usage and don't tend to put the heating on until much later in the year.

I just wondered what other people are paying? Thanks

Surely it would be more useful to look at other providers than compare what other people pay.

I've done that but I think I've just ended up confusing myself!

The amounts seem to vary quite wildly. Some of the providers I've never heard of and I suppose I jist wondered what others in similar sized houses were paying.

I don't think my usage is particularly high. Maybe my expectations are just wildly out of touch!

Agree that comparing with others with different household size, heating type and usage patterns is pointless. Also you need to be mindful that the monthly direct debit doesn't always line up with 1/12 of your annual usage.

If you're on the SV rate, if you can fix at around that level, you'll likely save money over the coming year as it will save you from the big increase in the new year, which is likely to coincide with a lot of your winter usage.

When comparing tariffs, you need to make sure it's based the amount of energy you actually use - this will be stated on your bill. Hopefully then your DD will be 1/12 of the cost of that, but will also need to take into account any debt you currently have.

Sadly it could be that your expectations are out of touch. Energy prices have increased significantly in the last year and are the highest ever except for at the start of the war in Ukraine.

Fixed rate deals are simple to compare online, as Martin Lewis says- if you don't recognise or want to use the cheapest move done the list until you come to a provider you're happy with

Don't worry about which provider or tariff anyone chooses, you're only paying your own bills

Yeah, I think it's that!

The best fixed price they're offering me is around double what I'm currently paying but I'm also aware it's summer and won't be for much longer...
