How can my MIL delete old RCS contacts on Android?

Hello
Sorry if this isn't in the right place!
My MIL has an Android phone and has asked me to try and help her but I don't really know how so wondered if anyone here might know.

She has her contacts in her phone book on the phone as normal but when she presses the messaging app (normal text messages) it gives a whole extra list of contacts that she'd previously deleted and it says RCS next to them. It seems they aren't stored along with the normal contacts but are stored elsewhere if that makes sense. These are contacts she hasn't used for ages and have been deleted or so she thought. How can we delete those?

Thank you!

On mine I can have contacts saved on phone, on SIM and also associatated with different google accounts. Drives me nuts, RCS maybe recycle bin?

She can turn off the RCS in her settings so that she only uses SMS or MMS and that might stop it. RCS uses WiFi or data to send messages rather than being part of the messaging allowance she has in her contract. It's one of those things which was rolled out with little or no warning to Android users.....

Similar happened to me and I thought i sorted it out but now some nunbers in my contacts do not show up but when I do a search of the name it appears.
