I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in complete silence, in my conservatory spot. Boy cat's on the chair opposite & girl cat's gone back to bed. I'm just about to pop back the cards & lippy I took out yesterday that live in my everyday handbag.

We don't have much planned for the day here - I haven't replaced the mower yet so my dad's going to nip round with his & give the grass a cut for me shortly-ish. The kitchen blind still needs to go up so might do that while he's here to assist with my awful diy skills 🤣.

Other than that I have some pansies and violas to plant to give the garden some colour over winter & need to have a think how to stop grass growing through the 2 layers of weed membrane I have down under slate chippings 🤔. I'll carry on working through my inside list tomorrow. Any other time before tea, I'll spend crocheting I think.

We're having chops for tea, not had them for ages but have a brand new oven so going to try out the grill. I think we'll have mash, and I'll see what sort of veg dd2 wants.

Later on, early early showers, crochet for a bit, then early early night ready for tomorrow 💤.

What are you up to? 🙂

Morning!

Just wrapping up a successful sleepover with DD10 and two pals. Everyone slept and they are now doing morning facemasks and kareeokee.

i will look forward to some peace when they disappear as the cat and I are hiding.

im desperate to go a run when DH gets home and this afternoon we’ll probably pop to the pub and then make the most of the sleepover den set up and watch a movie with a Chili.

We are having in the midst of stressful secondary school selections so it’s been lovely to have an indulgent weekend. It’s still so hot here and I’m ready for some Autumn weekends.

Bringyourfoldingchair · 27/09/2026 09:50

Good Morning! It’s a stinking morning here. I’ve been downstairs and put a wash on, hoovered and put a gammon in the slow cooker for later. Brought a coffee back to bed and some breakfast for DS3. Him and DS12 are in bed beside me playing iPads. I’m going to venture back down to hang the wash up and get another coffee shortly.
Not much planned for today. I’ve some ironing to do to get things ready for the week and we will have a roast later. I might check out what’s on at the cinema but not too sure yet. I think it’s to brighten up later in the day so maybe the park to burn off some steam.
Have a good day everyone!

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 27/09/2026 09:52

Good morning lucysmam and others. I like your flower choices!
I've had two coffees and a cup of tea and a slice of toast. Shortly I will make a steak and sausage casserole and a pot of mince. I will freeze most of it for future days. Dd is going to call in, bringing soup and, presumably, the boys who will immediately want food. At some point I will wash floors and windows. Have a good day all.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 27/09/2026 09:53

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. Missed yesterday’s thread as the day just went. Very stressful shift so was glad to get home. Just having my 2nd cuppa with toast & Scottish marmalade. Feeling shaky but no idea why. Have unloaded & loaded the dishwasher but it hasn’t gone on yet. Need to phone the charity shop when it opens at 10 as I have 2 pictures reserved & want to extend by another 24 hours. Very excited as one of them is potentially very valuable. Waiting to hear from DSil about what time we’re meeting up at DF’s. Will meet my niece’s fella for the first time. It sounds like he’s a keeper ❤️ Visiting DM at some point too. Ordering an Indian for tea. I have lots of tv to catch up on, including 2 episodes of All Creatures Great & Small.

Spaniels4Eva · 27/09/2026 09:55

Good Morning.

DH is away on a golf break (Yeehah) so I've got a blissful day to myself. I was planning to mow the lawn but it's drizzling here and the dogs are protesting they've not had a walk yet.

So I've just made a steaming bowl of peanut butter porridge with blueberries and raspberries, topped with cinnamon and I'm on my second coffee. Feeling very relaxed.

OchreSwan · 27/09/2026 09:56

Good morning @lucysmamand all! I’ve been up since seven, done my run, showered and now sitting with a coffee. I had to get out early today as there’s a local road race and I didn’t want to get mixed up in all the running traffic.

We’re going to try and have a little bit of a tidy and sort this morning, though house is not looking too bad. We do want to hang up a new print as we’ve just sorted the frame.

My parents are in London this weekend so we’re heading into central later to see them. We’ll pop by brick lane to pick up some bagels, and I think DP and I will try to find somewhere for dinner after. Then home to finish off the weekend in front of the telly I expect - maybe catch up on this week’s taskmaster.

Myfridgeiscool · 27/09/2026 09:57

It’s been a really stressful week here, this thread has instilled some mental calmness!
I'm going to do some ironing, walk the dog and take DD riding later.

rainbowstardrops · 27/09/2026 10:00

Morning.

DS is at his girlfriend’s house and DD has gone to work, so it’s just me and the cat here all day.
I’m currently sat eating pizza from last night and enjoying the peace while the ferals from next door are out because they’ll be back screaming in the garden once they’re back 😬
Ive already put a wash on and will just potter about here today. Rock and roll!!!

Simonjt · 27/09/2026 10:04

Good morning, its warm and sunny here.

My mums flying over to stay with us for a bit, she has however missed her connecting flight as she was perving over a rugby team in the same lounge as her. So that has been an expensive mistake. So rather than going out for lunch together we’ll all be going out for dinner.

It does mean we’ve been able to change our day plans, so we’re off to Skansen in a bit as that will keep both the kids entertained for a few hours.

Have a nice sunday

gingercat02 · 27/09/2026 10:07

Just dropped my mum home to get ready for church. DH is taking her as I'm off to my class. Im really looking forward to it, I haven't been for 6 weeks with one thing or another. I'll be knackered by 11:30!
Pick mum up about 1ish, back here for lunch.
No plans, maybe a little walk, but she's really easily tired, so we shall see
Roast ham for tea, with roasties, cauliflower cheese and braised leeks.
Then getting ready for the week ahead 🥺

autumnvelvetwhisper · 27/09/2026 10:09

Morning,

Back from the gym and shower. Just put a load on. Sat having a cuppa before putting up my new shelving units 😊

Not much else planned. A nice chilled afternoon, for all I think. Have a good day all 😊

Lifejigsaw · 27/09/2026 10:27

Good morning lovely weekenders!

I’m having a blissful morning. After a really busy few weeks travelling and working long hours I’m getting chance to just potter and clean/tidy with music. Really helps calm my brain!

I woke early as ever so lounged in bed for 45mins with the news. Then up for a coffee and out the first load on the wash. Since then I’ve cleaned the kitchen, hoovered and mopped downstairs, hung up the washing, put a second load on, dissembled the sofa and hoovered in there (always horrifying), and now sat with a second cup.

In a minute I’ll make bagels and have a bacon and egg bagel for brunch 😋. Then make a spaghetti Bol to turn into lasagne later.

Otherwise there’s ironing to do, a front yard to sweep, and the rest of the hoovering.

Later I’ll have lasagne and watch telly with a jigsaw before a good shower and an early bedtime I think. The question is if I can be bothered to get the bus to M&S for the good garlic bread…

Tiddlywinks63 · 27/09/2026 10:41

Good morning everyone, I’m enjoying avocado toast and a big mug of milky coffee because I deserve it!
I’ve changed the bed, put a load of washing on but can’t make up my mind whether it’s going to rain or not so delaying hanging it out. The bedroom is tidy, I’ve cleaned the kitchen and prepared dinner (steak and kidney pie, leeks, mash and runner beans), and spent 20 minutes fiddling around in the garden. I have finished sorting out the back garden and this week I will start on the front one. I’m very pleased with my efforts, the pots of violas and miniature pinks look very pretty. Hopefully I won’t have much to do out there over winter other than brushing up leaves and pruning the roses once they stop flowering.
I hope you have a good day x

humptydumptyfelloff · 27/09/2026 11:07

FlorencenotRatchet · 27/09/2026 11:31

Morning
Out early for a long run this morning before volunteering at junior Parkrun.
I have no plans for today except looking for a holiday for next month. I can’t decide whether to go abroad of stay in the UK.
Roast chicken and veg for dinner.

DilemmaDelilah · 27/09/2026 11:44

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I missed yesterday because we're away for a few days visiting family in Kent and, quite frankly, I forgot it was Saturday!

We're staying in a hotel with a pool... just a Holiday Inn, but we're keen to take advantage of it if we can. Unfortunately I do NOT swim in public if I can help it and the pool is open to the public as well, so the only chance I have had has been on Friday just before it closed for the night so far. We took our cozzies down with us before breakfast today just in case..., But there were a couple of very determined length swimmers in there so we didn't go in.

We had a very nice breakfast, and then went back to our room and attempted to watch some television before falling asleep! I've only just woken up.

We're off to have lunch with my (step) daughter shortly, and we will spend the afternoon there, before popping into Asda before they close to pick up something for supper. There's no fridge in the room otherwise we would have done that this morning.

I hope to have another swim this evening if we can find a quiet period. It won't be the end of the world if we can't.

We're leaving tomorrow morning, popping in to see our daughter briefly on the way to Portsmouth, where we're stopping for the night before going home. I want to visit Gunwharf Quay designer outlet shopping to stock up on a few things for me and for Christmas presents. And I like it there. Of the 5 outlet shopping centres I have visited so far that is the one I like best.

I am now about to get changed to visit our daughter. Food tonight will probably be some nice rolls stuffed with cold meat, and some mini Sicilian lemon cheesecakes. That's what we had on Friday night and we both enjoyed it much better than the sandwiches we had on Thursday night.

Girasoli · 27/09/2026 11:57

Morning (just!)

DH and DS1 are at DS1s football match (away match so they will be gone half the afternoon)

DS2 and I went to mass this morning then walked to DMs house. We'll have some lunch together and then if we are feeling energetic we are going to start organising my summar house (we moved last year, it's still full of boxes).

zingally · 27/09/2026 12:14

Hello all,

Yesterday was a busy day, as I went about an hour away to Peterborough to have a birthday meet up with a friend. Not a HUGE sucess, as we went straight to a cafe for a drink upon meeting. I had a mocha, and she a hot chocolate, and within about 2 hours, I was getting bowel cramps, and ended up having two episodes of... "upset stomach" in the restaurant toilets. ;) Friend then said she'd also felt a bit squiffy afterwards, but her poorly stomach had passed. The only thing we could put it down to was the milk at the cafe. We'd both had totally normal breakfasts at home, so it couldn't have been that...
I felt loads better after that, but friend then developed a bad headache. So we got to about 3:30 and called it quits. Still, the weather was perfect, and it was nice to see her.

Lazy day at home for me today. About to do some printing for some work I'm doing next week, and just waiting for the washing machine to finish.

Only a 3 day work week for me this week, as I'm taking Tuesday and Wednesday off for my birthday. Don't normally, but we booked theatre tickets for Tuesday night, so thought we'd make a proper time of it.

Tea will be the "fancy" chicken kievs I bought from Waitrose on Friday. They were about a third off, so worth having for a "birthday week" treat.

notantordec · 27/09/2026 12:22

Going on holiday tomorrow so it’s a day of cleaning and packing. Can’t wait to get on that plane!

BestIsWest · 27/09/2026 12:25

Morning! Had a lazy morning because we spent yesterday sorting out the garage, building and installing racking and I’m knackered so I’m still in my dressing gown having my second coffee.
Will shower and do a run to the tip shortly to get rid of the stuff we didn’t need although DH is insisting on keeping all the random bits of wood ‘in case they come in handy’.
I’ve had a fruitless search through the freezer for the beef shin I bought to make a casserole (where has it gone?) so I’ll have to go and buy more.
I have some geums (Totally Tangerine) to plant later and then I have to visit my mum.

mondaytosunday · 27/09/2026 12:26

Afternoon. Just finished lunch. I’m about to go do my crochet - I ran out of yarn for the project I was doing while waiting for an order to arrive and miscalculated with it too so a skein short - and the other yarn has arrived so will go back to that project! I’ll listen to a podcast while doing it. Laundry is on and really should clean the kitchen before I start.
Yesterday I said it was tax day … did I do it? No. So today for sure! Really only needs another hour of work but it feels like climbing Mt Everest. I’ll do two hours crochet, stop for a bowl of homemade soup then no excuses!
My day sounds so bland compared to others but DD back at uni and son lives away (working today) so just me and the cats and Sundays are always just for pottering around.
Leftovers tonight.

Gardenflowering · 27/09/2026 12:29

Ooooh! Exciting day here today!

We've pretty much finished renovations, been upside down for a year.

Got friends coming for a Sunday roast! First people we have had round in over a year!
Cannot wait to see them and enjoy our lovely house at long last!

I’ve been cleaning and clearing all week so just need to run the hoover over and dust and then cook!!

Tangerinesattack · 27/09/2026 12:30

Afternoon all

Feeling a little bit fuzzy this morning after some red wine last night. The venison guy was at the farmers market so we had gorgeous loin of venison with red wine sauce - would've been rude not to finish the bottle!

So think today will be focused on gently productive house stuff as the weather is horrible here. I bought one of those window vacuum gizmos out of Lidl yesterday and DS has been obsessed with it. He's cleaned all the windows, both showers and the bath! He's recovering now with some Minecraft. DH is on a call out but will hopefully be back soon. An afternoon of picture hanging, radiator bleeding and similar awaits us!

Dinner is the Korean pork we didn't have yesterday then a bit of telly and cross stitch.
Have a good day everyone.

Taytocrisps · 27/09/2026 12:37

Morning all. Well, it's afternoon now. It was raining cats and dogs when I got up this morning. The rain has eased off a bit now, but it's still a bit dismal. I've been to Tesco to do my weekly shop and I'm relaxing with a cuppa. I need to blitz the utility room - it's gotten very cluttered and has been on my 'To Do' list for too long a while. Amongst other things, I've a load of glass bottles to drop off at the recycling bin and some cardboard to dispose of.

Dinner will be ham, potatoes dauphinoise and veg. With leftovers for tomorrow.

I'll pick out some clothes for the week later and have them ironed and ready to go. It makes my mornings a lot easier.

I'll finish off my evening with some TV.

DD has gone to a birthday party for her boyfriend's Granny and won't be home.

DCats are snoozing on top of the armchair by the window.

Redragtoabull · 28/09/2026 18:32

Loaded car with all empty boxes and remainder of shit from daughters bedroom
5th dump run in as many days after daughters instagramable bloody gorgeous bedroom was finally decorated over the weekend.
Dropped said daughter to a job

Dropped car off for service and MOT
Walked home
Shower and hair wash (wasn't doing that before the dump)
Walked back to pick up car (no work needed, WIN)
Quick pop to shops again
Prepped and now cooking Mary Berrys Greek Lamb Pilaf
Washed up prep stuff
Now sitting on my arse witha glass of red waiting to stir my pilaf, well Mary's, in 14 minutes, then it has to cook for another hour & 20 minutes
