Yes. I have my pumpkin wreath on the door 🎃 Looking forward to making my own toffee apples this year. Dc have their costumes ready. And it's a Saturday night which is even better!

ChirpyTealFox · 27/09/2026 07:35

Yes and no 😁 we always do a Halloween party and its great that this year its on a Saturday. Only down side is it takes weeks to set up as every room apart from bedrooms gets fully decorated ceiling to floor which is a bit of an arse ache but love it once its all done

IAmTheStreets · 01/10/2026 09:43

Oh, absolutely! My birthday is also close to Halloween so I'm planning a small spooky-themed get together. I'm already throwing together a Halloween slideshow with scenes from my favorite horror films and it's probably almost time to put my hands on decorations. My parents aren't big fans of Halloween and the whole atmosphere of it so I didn't have much of it growing up. I'm balancing it out now tho 👻

AbraCaStabYa · 21/10/2026 01:20

Yes! Spending a week in ireland, i am very excited!

Nofeckingway · 21/10/2026 02:47

I hate it . Feels like something exciting should happen with all the hype but unless you are going to a party nothing much going on . Having said that, my house is loaded with decorations for the benefit of kids who will come trick or treating.

SpookyBooooo · 21/10/2026 02:51

Yes!
My child is actually with his other parent that weekend, but I'm going to an adults halloween party (not a dodgy sex type one, I just mean it's a grown ups party!)
I'm dressing up and looking forward to dancing and drinking!

Bryonyberries · 21/10/2026 08:31

I used to do loads at Halloween and had some amazing parties. My children are grown so it’s kind of fizzled out for now.

Mableandable · 21/10/2026 08:34

No sorry u just don’t get the hype. It’s become so Americanised and that’s not a good thing.

IMO it’s only really become such a massive thing in the U.K. because of all the orange and black - mostly plastic - tat in the shops. Not to mention pumpkins available -everywhere - neither happened when I was a child. Bonfire Night was the really Big Thing.

Though having said that, dds really used to enjoy it and now the Gdcs love it, and I always put a smallish pumpkin in the window and have sweets ready for any T or T’ers.
A couple of years ago some close friends of the Gdcs weren’t allowed to go T or T-ing - I gathered that their DM just couldn’t be bothered.

Gdd1 (then maybe 9) was horrified. ‘But it’s absolutely the most exciting day of the year, apart from Christmas!’
😂🎃

Cleo65 · 21/10/2026 09:01

No, it's absolutely out of control now.
As an example, people actually drive their kids over to a local estate (from neighbouring villages) to grab as many sweets as they can - hoardes of them marauding around.....which has now ruined it for the kids actually living there & terrifies the older residents.
Plus it's (yet) another big expense for parents.

Its always been quite big in my area, lots of games like dooking for apples, treacle pancakes on a string, its great fun!

The kids are really looking forward to Halloween, we've moved house recently and I've been warned twice now that our street is very busy on Halloween, so best get the sweets in, although we will be out guising too, so I'm planning on leaving them in a bowl on the doorstep with a note

madaboutpurple · 23/10/2026 12:39

One good point is that there will be a lot of reductions for Halloween cakes, chocolates as soon as it is over.

SaraHoliday · 23/10/2026 12:50

No. Halloween just isn't my thing. 1st November though...... full-on Christmas mode starts! 🎄😂

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 23/10/2026 12:53

Erm, no. The hype and tat is ridiculous. And let's not start on the fireworks that go off on Halloween. WTF?

OriginalSkang · 23/10/2026 12:54

I don't know how anyone who works full time could possibly get excited about extra 'stuff'. I just want to lay down mostly

Are you reading all the Christmas threads @SummerBlueskies ☃️

Halloween is my thing. Usually I’m the person who decorates in August and “forgets” to take some down each year hoping DH doesn’t notice. This year I’m just not feeling it, there’s too much going on and I just haven’t had the head room. I miss my skellys though I’ve only got my Ozzy out and he’s permanent
