Anyone else bake like a 2 yr old?

Anyone else just cannot bake even with a easy pack kit? I dream of being the type of mum who brings all sorts of baked goods to bake sales and wow my kids with homemade cakes etc etc but no they make do with what I tried tonight

yes I’m terrible.
i just buy them ready made at this point .
I am actually very good at cooking tbh, but baking just does not agree with me.
just recently I made two batches of cupcakes ( with the box , only have to add 3 things ) first batch was a disaster, second batch ( same exact mix) came out much better . Go figure .
My ant bought a ready made wet cake mix , litteraly is all ready made in the sachet, you just have to pour it and it goes straight in the oven . Don’t know what the point is tbh but anyway only half managed to actually cook and rise . Think it might be in the dna 😂😂

I have to say, I’m a good baker and make some really nice things BUT they never look brilliant, I lack finesse and can’t make anything look as nice as it tastes. Disappointing but people always really appreciate the effort, ingredients aren’t cheap!

The actual biscuits look alright but is that really the best you could do to decorate them?! Even just dots for eyes and nothing else would have been better than that! You clearly thought, fuck it and just started squiggling!

The black icing tube i got kept on messing up. So yeah I just eventually went fuck it only on some tho

In my house, we always say that the wonky baked goods taste the best! Which is probably a good thing as anything I bake comes out wonky 🤣

They are the (only) best day of the dead biscuits I've ever seen. Honestly, I have so many memories of my mum's attempts at this kind of thing and us howling with laughter and scoffing the lot - they always tasted great!

I don't manage it now but when I did, people appreciated mt baking for the taste, amd understood that appearance isn't everything 🤣🤣🤣 welcome to the club

I love that at no point did you seem to figure out how to stop the black icing coming out and all images are made of one continuous line 😂

A very long time ago I made a cake for my son’s 4th birthday and took it to nursery. The staff admired it and one said ´he’s done a lovely job of decorating it hasn’t he?’

Except it was all my own work.

It just takes practice. And patience.

Maybe hold off on the bake off application for now....

I only ever baked when I had toddlers so I could pretend they had made them.

and biscuits
i make a fantastic crumble
chocolate cornflakes

cannot make flap jack or full size cakes

Yeah, im a decent baker. But my biscuits would come out looking like that, as my artistic ability is close to zero.

I just dont do highly decorated stuff. I can pipe onto a cupcake, scatter stuff over glace icing. More that that just doesn't happen!

The cakes I make taste delicious but I’m not great at decorating them. I tend to keep the decoration simple. Something like those biscuits I would only ever make for children who presumably want the fun of decorating them themselves, so that’d be how I got out of doing those!

Those little plastic icing tubes are crap and don’t really give you much control! I’m not the best at icing but I love baking- I go for things like traybakes/brownies/cookies that don’t really need additional decorations! Then you can claim substance over style!

I make nice tasting cakes but decorating can get to fuck.

OP I wouldn’t sweat it, I think the fact you’ve made people laugh, myself included, more than makes up for your lack of artistry.

The thing is I made them alone at bedtime....

Also they taste crap aswell. The fact is we are a family of 5 all with a sweet tooth and most are still in the fridge looking sorry for themselves says it all tbh.
My dd 14 says im like the queen in ben and holy 🤣🤣 None of my kids will come home for good homemade food when adults i think.
