Kids and (lack of) gratitude

Three tenagers (14, 16 and 18). I have asked each of them to do a couple of things for me today and all i got was a “no”… 😳 (drop a return package at post office, set the table, come to JD sport with me to buy his jacket to make sure it is the right size etc…)
The level of ingratitude is shocking. They mostly stayed on their computers to play with their mates today…. It is not as if they had a busy schedule….
For context DP and I work FT.

They are overall good boys and i understand teenagers can be ungrateful but how do i improve this?
i have started a simple tally on the fridge (no names but three columns) and i am planning to explain to them that each bar is a “no” and this is why tonight we wont have a take-away (like every fridays)… but that feels a bit passive aggressive…

Any suggestions?

They can do their own tea.

You go out for yours.

That’s not ingratitude.

I mean it might be but it’s not obvious

i’m really grateful for what my mum does for me but if she wants a favour I don’t always do it.

usually parents go down one of three roads:

everyone in this house has to help keep it going so here’s everyone’s assigned chores, everyone does their chores (eg washing up, do own laundry, etc)

pocket money is given if assigned chores are done (eg Tuesday clear dishwasher, Wednesday wash up, feed dog every day)

or

do what mum says when she says it.

the last is usually very very ineffective unless you actually beat them.
