Twelve-year-old's WhatsApp group being spammed with explicit GIFs

My 12 year old dd is on a group WhatsApp chat with her 12 year mates. When i was looking at my photos, one of the kids? Is spamming the group with porn gifs. What do I do? I can't Google this as the word "porn" shuts my search engine down. Help! Its my phone. Not hers. All this is on my device and it looks like im on the group! No idea how long this has been going on for as literally just found it. Before its been tame chat.

once school know who it is delete the chat.

Should I contact the DSL on Monday? Dd is saying isn't on that group any more, there's nothing like this on her phone. Thing is if know these other kids and the parents. Even when the photos are deleted, they stay in the history and download into my what's app folder

I would screen shot etc everything you can, gather whatever evidence you can.
Contact the dsl on Monday. Is there a parents chat? Maybe post on there.
Have I understood correctly that your daughter has been using your phone number to post on this chat that is full of 12 year olds?? This is incredibly stupid. This looks like you have been messaging a bunch of kids!! Get off there immediately!

Your last post doesn't make sense. Can you edit/ correct it? Why does she have WhatsApp groups on your phone and on her phone. Why do you, as an adult, have safe filters on your browser (unless you share your phone with DD, but you said she has her own)?

This is why children shouldn't have smartphones.

Remove her from the chat
Change her settings so she can't be added to groups without her permission.
Inform the school.

Remove the spammer, or contact the parents with screenshots and tell them to remove the spammer.

it's not difficult. My 10 yo kid and his friends used to ban people from their group chat for saying an "inappropriate" word 😂. How else would they learn.

Why the fuck are you, an adult, in a group chat with a bunch of 12 year olds? That just looks dodgy as fuck.

Do you know which child was sharing these images? I would report to school safeguarding lead and if I knew the child’s parents, I would speak to them and ask them if they’re aware that their child has been sending explicit material in the group.

This is why 12 year olds shouldn't have smart phones and social media.

Its on my phone as I don't want her on WhatsApp unmonitored. This was fine until this porn business started. She is using the group to meet with mates at the local park. Why can't she use my tech? She is 12.

I'm not the admin. I can't delete or block anyone. It was a group dd joined to meet with three girls at the park and one boy. Now there's more boys on there and its gone to shit. If delete and block what exactly do I show the dsl?

I have just got a brand new phone off the gray market so not sure if its Asia setting to block any setting for porn. I have never needed to search the term Porn before? Why are people so shitty on here? To make my life easier I could tell the mums I know well enough and let them deal with it. Anyway - how do you know they were from that group but you can't see who sent them and when? Or perhaps you do know which child sent them?

What is so hard to understand? Last week when I looked at my galary it was porn free. Today it iisn't.when did it start? I don't want to check hundreds of pictures of tit's to get the timestamps. I dont check my pictures daily. My phone is always on silent and get no alerts for WhatsApp as I don't want hundreds of apps pinging all day.

Tell the police. Don't wait for school, they are 12 and need protecting asap from this stuff.

That phone could have all sorts of spyware and malware on it. I’d bin it, get a cheap refurbished one and change all my passwords.

I think OP wanted to Google what should she do about a child spamming a WhatsApp group with porn eg police or social services or school etc, but couldn't search it because Google would block the search due to her filters or something, so that's why she's asking her rather than googling herself.

The OP is clearly shocked and upset about what her DD has seen. Can we try really hard to not have a go at her for not being perfectly clear and succinct in her posts.

Have you informed the parents of the other kids, so that they can also take action and remove them from the group? You can also do the same, after taking screenshots. If you block a group, it will still remain visible in your chat page. Get your evidence and report it to the school on Monday.
Also, you don't need to check all the photos for the timestamp, check 1 or 2. And perhaps get rid of this dodgy phone.
