I’ve an interview as a specialist teacher at the local authority so moving from 22 years int he classroom to the LA.

are there any things I should be aware of for a council interview do they expect STAR or to quote values and so on? Do I need to ask questions?

teaching interviews are very different as the is a day with all the applicants

No idea of your specifics but can answer a bit more generally.

Almost all LA interviews will include a DEI question. The best candidates I’ve interviewed have had some great real world examples for this answer. The worst are the generic ones, bland cover all statements.

Yes, prepare some questions so you can ask one at the end if offered. The best candidates I’ve interviewed have asked something about the future of the service/current challenges/one asked what we liked most about our jobs.

Might be an idea to see if they have published any strategies on their website. It’s good when we can see a candidate has shown some interest in wider goals of LA long term planning.

Good luck.
