Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just finishing my first cuppa of the day, in my conservatory spot. Both cats have had breakfast and vanished. Boy cat's probably in my window, girl will definitely be in bed with dd2!

So far I've hung some washing out, re-loaded the machine with a second load and had a quick tidy in the kitchen. I'll sort the pots shortly before I make a move to shower.

I'm off out for lunch and drinks with friends this afternoon. Not a thing I want to wear, and my current footwear situation is uninspiring at best <sigh>. Should probably have thought about that before today since this has been on the calendar for most of the month 🙄.

Dd's spending the day with their dad, although they'll probably not do much. She's got a little bit of college work to do, so my guess would be that she'll do that today. Dd1 is not likely to be awake for hours yet, and will probably have a hangover...Life360 told me this morning that she got in just before 6am!

When I get in, it'll probably be bed time 💤 ready to do some jobs around the house tomorrow. If not, I'll find something to watch that doesn't need any brain power.

What about all of you? 🙂

Been up a while but not done much that's productive. I did get a second load of washing in and waft a duster around so I'm sort of winning. It was far nicer drinking tea and reading my book / watching Schitts Creek!

Not much planned for today. Bit of housework and birthday shopping for DD. Lots more tea too!

TheBers · 26/09/2026 10:01

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 26/09/2026 10:10

Good morning lucysmam and others. Enjoy your catch up with friends.

I've been up since eight after a disturbed night. So nothing of note achieved so far. I've had two coffees and a slice of toast. Im about to strip the bed and get sheets etc washed. Then I'll empty and load the dishwasher. I have some housework to do, including washing the floors and maybe the windows. Im contemplating cleaning the cupboard under the sink. Tesco will deliver this afternoon and my fridge and cupboards will be happy again. Later I will probably watch Strictly. Enjoy your day

Fazabulous · 26/09/2026 10:18

Good morning!
Busy week with a bit of family stress so having a quiet ish one.
i seem to have booked a lot of craft classes for the next couple of weeks (but not sure it’s possible to book too many!🤔 ) so have walked dog, tidied kitchen and setting up for at least a morning of prep on the big kitchen table.
Radio on, nice coffee made. Sorted.
Pizza and TV tonight I think. I really enjoyed the Strictly launch show so more of that I think.

Simonjt · 26/09/2026 10:27

Good morning, the oldest has hockey practice later so nothing really planned this morning. Theres a new park not far from the rink so we’ll probably take our daughter there until he’s done.

Our daughter was playing with some teddies earlier and gave me the ‘new teddy she found’ a dead mouse from the garden, so that was delightful.

The dinner request for tonight is pasta, so we made that this morning and its resting in the fridge until they decide what shapes they want. My mums coming tomorrow and will be here for two weeks so we need to change the bedding in the spare room and pick up a few bits from the supermarket for her.

Have a nice Saturday

ReflectiveGilet · 26/09/2026 10:27

Just arrived at McDonald’s in Saltash to get some secret dirty breakfast on the way to do a changeover at my holiday let. Already dropped dd1 to her part time job at the chazza. I have to go to Trago mills on the way and get a new bin and stuff. It’s a bit dull but the cleaning is quite peaceful and I will watch some detective thing as no casualty at the moment. Later dd2 has a friend to sleepover so I have made it clear dd1 and I will be having the living room to watch a film maybe Wes Anderson tonight.

Giggorata · 26/09/2026 10:30

Mad housework day today (how I miss my poorly cleaner!) I have also bought a load of spray to discourage spiders 🤞
We have some washing out and might actually get to see the bottom of the laundry basket if we do another load!
DH's brother and partner are visiting tomorrow, so I want to get some food sorted. I haven't any ideas at the moment; they said they love our village pub and don't want a full blown meal, so I might do cheese on toast.
If I have the energy, coven tonight.

Tangerinesattack · 26/09/2026 10:54

Morning all.
Just having my second coffee after bacon and egg rolls. I've been pottering about getting a few bits and bobs done and making a list of to dos for the weekend - not too much thankfully ! Dishwasher and washing machine doing their thing.

We're off to a food festival in a bit. Fingers crossed the venison guy isn't there or epicurean DS will want to spend a fortune.
If it stays dry, I'll try to convince the boys to go for a walk to eat our spoils at the beach. Then I fancy a game of Ticket to Ride this afternoon. Maybe a few jobs later if I feel motivated. DH is recovering from COVID and is on call so it's all going to be fairly low key.

Dinner is going to be crispy Korean pork with rice and pickles. Then a cocktail (m & s smoked pineapple daiquiri) and some cross stitch. Have a great day everyone!

We have family arriving from the UK this evening and they are staying in our guest house , so been busy getting that ready . Me & DH are off to our closest city this afternoon to do a bit of shopping & see a live English band (we don't get many ), we are staying up there over night as the band don't come on until 12.30am (crazy Spanish 😂). DS18 is in charge of welcoming family guests and looking after the mutts . Excited to be getting to the city after a long busy summer 😁

Bringyourfoldingchair · 26/09/2026 11:01

Morning everyone! Eldest DS is at a scouts camp and middle DS and DH are having a boys weekend at our caravan so just me and DS3 this morning. So far I have made bacon baps and coffee, did a wheels on the bus puzzle, hoovered upstairs and downstairs and stripped the bed and hung it out. Oh and done an online Iceland shop with breaks and lunches for the week in it.
We’re going to get ready soon and head to the park before we have to collect big DS and 1pm.
I plan on dropping him home for a rest whilst I do the lidl shop and then I’ve to drop him off at his mates house for go karting and mcds. Then I’ll take my aunts shopping to her and maybe nip into hospital to visit my uncle. After I pick big DS up for the evening I’ll have some wine and either a ready meal or a Chinese. Haven’t decided yet.
Have a great day everyone!

Thislittlekitten · 26/09/2026 11:02

Good Morning All

I missed posting last week as I was a bit low but enjoyed reading everyone’s posts.

I had a very interrupted sleep last night. I was woken up by the dog and the cat at various points. Not impressed.

Today has stared well. DH managed to get myself and DD Oasis tickets. Very excited.
I’ve walked DDog and made bacon rolls and cups of tea. Uniforms and dishwasher on. I’ve retreated up to the bedroom as DH and DS are watching a film. I’m going to read and do some college work. DD is awake which is a shock but she apparently is going to meet friends.

Today is going to be quiet as is tomorrow. I’ll take DDog out again in a few hours. Tidy up a bit too.

Chicken burgers for tea tonight and something easy on the tv.

gingercat02 · 26/09/2026 11:19

Morning all, not rtft yet.
DH has gone for a 5 hour bike, I'm still baby sitting my Mum with her broken arm, although she is much better. We were at fracture clinic yesterday and she's healing well, they put a slightly shorter cast on which has made a huge difference.
No plans other than a bit of online shopping for her, and maybe a short walk if the weather holds up.
We'll watch the F1 when DH gets back.
No ideas on food, but I have a full fridge and larder as the shopping has just been.

Topsy44 · 26/09/2026 11:23

Good Morning All

Just had my second cup of tea of the day and thinking about whether to mow the back lawn or tidy up downstairs. DD has had a horrible sore throat/cough bug this week so she’s more than happy to have a quiet weekend getting some r&r.

If I manage to get my act together and mow the back lawn I might sit in the garden for an hour this afternoon and read my book as it looks to be a bright day here in the SE.

Tonight will be Strictly with steak and ale pie and veg for me and southern fried chicken and chips for DD! Enjoy your Saturdays all🙂.

Taytocrisps · 26/09/2026 11:24

Good morning @lucysmam and all the regulars. I'm tired this morning. I happened to be on Grafton Street in Dublin yesterday and spotted a very big crowd of people. When I asked them why they were queuing, they told me that there were rumours that U2 were going to be playing a gig on the balcony of Bewley's (a coffee shop on Grafton Street). So I joined the queue and eventually got to see them play. I'm not a big U2 fan, but it was nice to see them play in such an iconic venue, on the occasion of their 50th birthday. And it was great to see the band so close up. I've seen them in concert before, but they were tiny dots on a stage which was miles away.

Anyway, I was waiting for a few hours before they came on stage, so my feet are a bit sore today. It was worth it though. And they finished up around 9 o'clock, so I was home at a decent hour.

Going to do my usual boring Saturday chores shortly (budget for week, meal plan for week, laundry, hoover etc.). Will do something quick for dinner, but I haven't decided on anything yet. And I'll curl up with a coffee and chocolate and a movie later.

DCats are snoozing.

DD is off today and has gone to get her nails done (a Hallowe'en design, apparently - I told her it was too early). She's heading to a 21st birthday party later.

windinthewillows2 · 26/09/2026 11:29

Thoroughly fed up in bed with what i think is Covid.

OchreSwan · 26/09/2026 11:31

Morning all and happy sunny Saturday. Up early this morning so enjoyed a walk in the sunshine and looked round farmers market (didn’t buy anything though!).

My parents popped in for a coffee on their way into town, but they’ve left now and DP is working today so I’m on my way to the shopping centre to hunt for work trousers. Hopefully I’ll only be there for a short while - generally try to avoid as I hate how busy it gets.

I’ll probably spend the afternoon reading or knitting when I get home, and then will pull something out of the freezer for dinner once DP has finished work. Maybe fishcakes. Would like to open a bottle of wine but must resist - it’s been an indulgent summer and I’m trying to reset.

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Itstheyearitstarts · 26/09/2026 11:41

Travelled down to London this morning, doing a few sightseeing things this afternoon, show tonight and some shopping tomorrow.

FlorencenotRatchet · 26/09/2026 11:47

Morning all
I had my first uninterrupted nights sleep in a long time. It was much needed after a very difficult week at work.
Parkrun done and just about to head out to meet a friend for lunch.
I will try to finish my washing so there’s nothing to do tomorrow.
Not much else planned except for a lazy evening at home.

Tiddlywinks63 · 26/09/2026 11:51

Good morning @lucysmam and followers, it’s a coolish morning here and I was outside by 9 finishing the back garden tidy up. I’m knackered now! It’s looking good, I’m very pleased with my efforts this week.
Dh has walked the dogs, I need to get some lunch then that’s me done for the day. I’ve probably overdone things this week, luckily there’s nothing planned for next week at all.

SpookyHalloweenDeviledEggs · 26/09/2026 11:54

We've been to DD dance class this morning now we're having a lovely sausage roll and cheese bread lunch and a sleepy film before we go blow cob webs off at the park later.

Ilovelurchers · 26/09/2026 11:59

I am off to the theatre with my daughter and her dad (we aren't together any more but still amicable). Very excited, but have been off work for the last two days with whatever virus is going round so also aware I need to take it easy.......

Commiearatuons to other sufferers - there is a lot of illness about at the moment!

SoThatsTheWayItIs · 26/09/2026 12:00

Woke up at 4am as trialled not taking magnesium before bed as an experiment (mistake) laid in bed with copious hot drinks and read my book. Am post covid and still really tired.

Just walked the dog and had a quick tidy round. Set Eufy hoover off on his way to hoover and mop downstairs. Once he’s finished I’m going to head out to buy DS1 some trousers and find a cafe and do some work admin. Hate working on a weekend but have to start the week with a clean slate or it just becomes unmanageable (self employed I blame my boss 😉)

Might go for a swim later if I don’t hit a wall from being awake so early.

Echobelly · 26/09/2026 12:00

This is the first weekend I have for 6 weeks with no commitments - Jewish holidays, family stuff and getting DC's stuff to uni halls have taken up the last ones since we got back from holiday at the start of the month so I am enjoying no fixed plans at all. Might join DH on jaunt to some shops as there's a Dunelm where he's going and they have shelves that might be right for organising DH's GCSE revision. Then maybe go to the Tate Modern later today as I haven't been and used my membership for ages

StJulian2023 · 26/09/2026 12:01

This is a lovely thread!

I woke up at 8; believe it or not we have a scrap metal guy with a megaphone who does the rounds from 8.30am so I was glad to be up before him. Normally I’m up at 6.30am, so a nice lie in.

Didn’t actually get moving for a while - renewed my home insurance from bed which took much longer than I’d hoped…

DS is watering his chilli plants and I’ve had some breakfast. DD has loaded up a tray with things that I suppose adds up to brunch, and then I’m going to nab her to get permission to sling a load of old school books.

Old friends are coming over this pm and half of us are going to see an author at a literature festival, and the other half heading to our local climbing centre.

Now to empty the dishwasher and restore some sort of kitchen order.

Have good days, everyone!

Ninamalina · 26/09/2026 12:02

Morning everyone. Lovely sunny day here, still procrastinating here and just finished second tea of the day. Slept in until 10am so a slow start today..sorted all the animals ( cats, dog, chickens)and had a leisurely breakfast but seriously need to move now and do stuff. Have a very sore achy leg after overdoing things last weekend and need to rest it really. The joys of being 60 and having gammy legs ! Am going to stay home today I think..will make an apple pie as we have lots of apples and will do laundry , prepare dinner for later and hopefully do a basket of ironing that has been hidden away upstairs for wks. The ironing will have to be done sitting down due to the leg issue so not sure how this will work tbh .
Dh is planning a day in the garden , Ds is gone to a singing group practice thing and Dd is still in bed having worked late last night.
Will sit later and enjoy a netflix movie and a beer hopefully.
