Do baby formula brands and types differ much in smell?

Do all baby formula milks smell the same?

Does ready made liquid smell less than powder formulation?

Is there a particular milk that has the mildest/nicest smell?

Im trying to work out what formula I will use, I’m not able to breastfeed due to sensory issues and I also have aversions to a lot of smells so wanted to get opinions on which formula brand and type smells the least.
I know breast is best but it’s not possible for me so I’m trying to plan ahead.

I was thinking about buying a bottle of each ready made formula to smell but I don’t like the idea of being wasteful so thought I’d ask here first !

They tend to smell if you leave the bottle once they’ve finished. Fresh they don’t really smell.

Pre made is different to powder so don’t base it on that

Baby poo smells different with different formulas. Can you get some support/ advice for your sensory needs? How will you manage with other baby smells like poo/ vomit etc?

The smells I can’t tolerate are anything cheesy or like off milk, artificial apple scents, cigarette smoke, fish, petrol and lavender. Poo and vomit don’t cause me any issues. I’m just worried about formula due to my issues with cheesy sort of smells

All formula smells, milk smells too. Breast milk smells the least. Could you get advice on desensitising so you can breastfeed, once you get used to it it’s far easier than bottles and doesn’t smell horrible plus bonus is the nappies don’t smell as bad!

My DD had dreadful reflux - no cause other than an underdeveloped system, she stopped as soon as she was sitting up unaided and eating solid food, and now rarely vomits. Anyway - I have smelled every single formula going down AND when it comes back up (couldn’t bf, was having chemo) and I can honestly say Kendamil was the least offensive by far…

All formula has a smell, in the tub, in the bottle and spewed up all down your top.

Formula smells a lot worse than breastmilk especially when coming back up because it’s cows milk. And yes the poo smells different.

When you say sensory difficulties - have you thought about using pumped breast milk? That would atleast eliminate the formula smell.

Our Kendamil smelled so bad in the heatwave I threw out a full tin

I’m wondering is the ready made less smelly than powdered ?

We used Kendamil and it has a creamy smell which wasn’t offensive. DD’s poos were absolutely fine and she was very very very rarely sick/spit up.

I might buy a small bottle of ready made and give it a sniff to see if I can tolerate it then !
