Oura ring or Whoop for sleep deprived DS17?

DS17 is performing very well academically. However, he often revises late into the night, which leads to exhaustion and sleep deprivation. As a result I am planning on gifting him a wearable device so that he can monitor his sleep and can take steps to improve it.

Which device would you recommend buying: the oura ring or a whoop? Which is more convenient to wear day-to-day (a ring or a band) and which would a 17 year old likely prefer?

Pay him each time he gets at least 7 hours it works

He can take steps to improve his sleep by not revising late into the night. A device isn’t needed, you already know the cause. Perhaps if he just, went to bed at a reasonable time he wouldn’t be exhausted?

Whoops terrible. Try Hume.

He can use his phone. I’d spend the money on incentivising more sleep or see it as a phase he’ll get through. Great that he’s studying so hard!

Hmmmm well as the younger generations says "well that's food for thought"

Does he not have a watch thing, cant remember what mines called. Its samsung, it trackes my sleep and steps, heart rate etc

I read the rings are not reliable/glitchy

I like my Oura ring, but I haven’t tried whoop so can’t compare

If he doesn't have a smart phone, he won't be able to read back the metrics from an Oura ring.
[edit to add, I have an Oura ring, and it is good at keeping me on track of sleeping!]
