Is this the fastest ever passport renewal?

I applied for my new passport (Irish) online just after 4pm on Tuesday and got the passport this morning (Thursday). Which just seems bonkers to me, it must have been processed the second the form was completed to get the new one to me so quickly. DH, ever the pessimist, told me to check it was correct before being amazed at the efficiency (the passport before last turned up with someone else's photo in it.)

I got my driving licence updated between Christmas and New year.

But shhh, nothing gets better under Labour!

The Irish passport service is utterly incredible - puts most other countries to shame. We‘re in central Europe and (over the last 5 years) the three Irish people in our household have all had their new passport back within 5 days after ordering online, even though it has to be sent across Europe.
The only problem we‘ve encountered is getting the photo approved by the software - it’s very pernickety about the slightest bit of shadow in the background and the pixel size. We‘ve even had professional photos rejected.

Maybe because they messed up the last time you have been flagged as VIP to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Yes, I'm in Ireland. Actually the passport office that gave me the wrong photo was in the UK because I was living in London at the time, and it was quite a long time ago, I assume the best part of 20 years because it was the renewal before last. So I'm pretty sure I'm not a VIP. I was thinking that they might be very quiet and very bored because it's not high season for passports this time of year.
