Oddly nice dreams

Not talking like 'doing your exams and all your clothes have fallen off', interested to hear about dreams that are oddly pleasant.

One I had last year I was standing on a flying carpet travelling hundreds of feet above a calm vast sea, with the sun setting over the horizon. I knew I had to land somewhere soon to rest, and as the last of the daylight fell I could see an archipelago of very flat islands. I landed on one with some huts on it and started talking to a woman who was hosting some kind of youth summer camp. We had a nice chat about young people and she said I could stay there.

The whole dream felt really positive and relaxed, which makes a nice change from the generally weird and dark turn of most of my subconscious night wanderings. What nice dreams do you remember?

My nicest one was a couple of years after my Gran died. I dreamt I was sitting in her living room in front of her old fashioned gas fire having a cuppa and a good old natter, just like we always did. We were very close.

i woke up thinking “wasn’t it lovely to see Gran” and all day and beyond I really felt like I’d been with her. I’ve had the same dream twice more in the 20 years since I lost her. Always leaves me feeling at peace!

I only seem to have nice dreams but they are usually conversations I've had or conversations yet to be had! 😂 I always dream in colour too.

I often wake up thinking I'm laying on a sun lounger too 🤷

I've also had nice dreams when I've met dead relatives and I know they're dead and I'm just seeing them this once but it's happy rather than melancholic.

Weirdly I've also had a nice dream about the end of the world. I was with my husband sitting on a cliff looking out at the sea and there was this sort of countdown projected on the sky. Our kids weren't with us but I hsd just talked to them on the phone and I knew they were OK and happy, then there was like this flash in the air and we knew it was 'electricity stopping working' and the whole thing was peaceful and happy.

I have recurring deams of walking my children to primary school. It's lovely to 'revisit' those special days as they're all adults now.

I very rarely have nice dreams, perhaps one every couple of years, and they're normally along the lines of me being cuddled by someone nice - usually an amalgam of people I've actually known and been fond of.

Once my brain served one of these up the night before my birthday, and it set a really pleasant tone for the day, but usually they occur randomly.

Most of my dreams are classic anxiety dreams, being late, being lost, discovering I have clothes missing (most often my shoes for some reason) and flooding features a lot although I have never lived in an area that's on a flood plain.

Years after my mum died, I had a lovely dream about her. She looked like she did when I was a kid, happy and healthy, and in my dream I was so happy to see her looking like that.

I lost sight of her, but then I spotted her eating an ice cream she had bought from an ice cream van. I called over to say I loved her, and she just smiled happily and went off eating her ice cream.

I like to relive that dream often when I can't sleep

I also sometimes have dreams where I see lovely fantastical views and I wish I could draw. I'll admit I've used AI to try and create some of them, like the sun setting behind a mountain that has a beautiful ancient city full of spires and golden domes running up the middle of it.

not the nicest of all but one that popped into my head just now. I was at a nice, large luxury entertainment complex / mall and in the centre was a big lagoon like swimming pool, with palm trees, loungers and a bar. We were just enjoying the warm water sipping on cocktails brought to us and I remember thinking wow how cool is this, they should have one of these back home.

We are having new carpet fitted and I had an odd but not necessarily bad dream the other night.
Basically I was straddling the carpet roll (it was rolled and still with protective cover on) and I was riding it down a snowy hill going in and out of the flags getting faster and faster. Then I heard sirens and the officer jumped off his snowmobile onto my carpet roll and whispered in my ear that I had not paid for the carpet. He brought it to a stop and said he won't bring charges if I marry him there and then, so I did.
When I woke up I told my husband and he didn't speak to me for four hours

Love for the carpet, not so much the silly husband reaction!
