Babys chin on chest in car seat

Has anyone used a peg perego lounge car seat for their baby?

My boy is < 2 months. Hes over the weight for the stage 1 insert, but under the height limit for the stage 2. In theory, he should be using the stage 2 now. With the insert in place his chin seems to rest on his chest, so is a no go. With the insert removed his chin is in the right spot, but the rest of him seems too small in the seat.

Has anyone used this seat and had a similar issue? Or a similar conundrum that adjusting the recline etc resolved? If I can't get a fit that looks right I'll be ordering a new car seat so recommendations are welcome too.

When a child is under 6 months but especially under 3 months they should only spend a certain amount of time in a car seat anyway. Limit babies time and also prod baby every so often sound horrible but it encourages them to take a deep breath. If possible sit in the back. Keep him in the stage that fits him best. It’s not just weight. My daughter was born 8lb 4oz but was very long and didn’t have an ounce of fat so going by weight wasn’t beneficial as she was still not filling the seat out width way.
