What’s been your happiest decade so far?

…not as in most exciting or adventurous (although could be some people’s happiest too of course) but most content, most consistently happy/content? And why do you think that is? Especially interested in hearing from people age 60+. I’m early 40s and feel way more content than in my 20s and 30s but I also have a pretty boring life now, but I don’t mind. Maybe that’s where the contentness comes from - not having the kind of crazy highs and lows, dramas etc of earlier decades that brought lots of highs, but also crushing lows. Or maybe it’s because I barely drink anymore and don’t use drugs, compared to my 20s & 30s where there was quite a lot of recreational substance use going on. Or maybe it’s becoming a parent, I had my child in my late 30s, so maybe that’s brought a new kind of, more consistent contentment than I’d ever experienced before. I’d be interested in hearing others’ perspectives

My 20’s. Lots of freedom, lots of travelling. University. Just very little real responsibility. Life became more serious in my 30’s. Not that that’s a bad thing. But the decade I look back at the most fondly is my 20’s.

Btw I am in my 50’s now.

I’m 53 & it would be my 40s. I got divorced at 40 & things have been getting better ever since.

When I’m 60 I might say it was my 50s.

Definitely the years from 47 to 60. Plenty of interesting work and travel, paid off the mortgage, felt very fulfilled. Sadly everything changed for the worse in 2020.

Thirties. I loved being a mum to young kids, had a happy marriage, great friends and a job I loved.

Each one has been great in its way, and each has been better than the last. I’m extremely lucky to have had good health, good luck, and opportunities.

My first 10 years as a kid in the 90s.

My 30s when I had my children in 1980s !

I'm pretty much a "look for the positives in life" person, so have been happy in each decade, but I do think every decade has been better than the previous one in some way. I'm in my 60s so might not still think that if I live to be 90+ of course.
