Mouldy clothes

Just found mouldy clothes at the bottom of the laundry basket. They've obviously gone in damp and been overlooked. They wouldn't survive washing at 60°. Can they be saved?

Wash them first and then decide. I tend to get them wet and then liberally coat the difficult muck with Fairy liquid. Then put it in the washer.

Fairy liquid in the washing machine @CruCru . Doesn't that cause a bubbly disaster?

Yes, nothing to lose by trying a hot wash.

I only put it on the bit that is stained. Then I usually wash on 30 or 40 delicate (if they are my own clothes and not towels or bedding). It hasn't caused any disasters so far.

Could you do a cold soak in something like Milton sterilising stuff first then reassess? Ps I’m crap at clothes stuff so feel free to disregard completely 😂

Maybe wash with some vanish oxy powder?

After a water leak from a neighbour while we were away we ended up with a lot of mouldy towels in the bathroom.

They never recovered despite hot washes with bio powder and drying outside. You could try a hot wash but don't expect any miracles, they probably just need to go in the bin, sadly.
