Anyone on here have autism, learning disability and/or difficulties and find people to be rude towards them?

As I have a minor learning disability and find people to be overly rude to me and when they speak to me they tend to ignore anything I say in a group conversation and when it is one to one with someone they tend to talk over at me too.

Also I find people don’t involve me in certain games and challenges.

Also to add, I’ve had people call me a spastic and such other derogatory words said about me behind my back or said in other terms when I’m around.

Anyone on here had this?

What are your thoughts?

I am autistic with no learning disability, ive had people treat me like I am stupid explaining what parachuting is or an automatic bin for example... I usually start a high intellect conversation and they have no idea how to react. Grin
I bloody hate it op. So sorry you have been treated similar.

I haven't personally but very few people know I'm autistic and this is one of the reasons I'm dubious about telling people. I work with someone else who's autistic and some people really speak down to him and think they can boss him around rather than asking him nicely as they would any other coworker.

Friend I care for experienced this a few weeks ago when she was in agony, unable to move, and close to sepsis from a snotty 20 something NWAS paramedic and her 40 something handler. As soon as I mentioned she was AuDHD the little snit stopped talking directly to my friend (an ex cardiac nurse of many years) and started lecturing me on the fire risks of the stuff waiting to be taken off for decluttering. While I'm not denying the place was in a mess, it's nice to know that lengthy and expensive Oliver McGowan training is working so well in the ambulance service, not.

Yes I've had this. I have dyslexia. I always end up surprising people when I know what long medical words mean. I have a child with complex medical needs and I watch casualty so i end up remembering stuff.

I have ASD but don't tell people. Regardless people still speak over me or sometimes treat me like I have an intellectual disability (I actually have a 128 IQ-not Mensan by any means but not dumb either!). It's just a vibe I give off. I don't really care anymore, I've just had to learn to speak up alot more so I dont get spoken over. I also can get selectively mute in large groups so that doesn't help.

I have ADHD and struggle to retain information so can appear (and am) forgetful and perhaps a bit dense! It's frustrating because I can be patronised by people who may even be less intelligent than me. I rarely tell people now because I told a former employee and they fired me around a week later. It was voluntary work but it still stung.
