Good Morning All! What are you all up to today?

I'm currently switching between drinking my first cuppa in my conservatory spot, and pottering tidying the kitchen. I've got one load of towels and the machine, another sorted, and a small whites load waiting for later on. It's quite breezy so they should dry quickly ish.

Plan for today is the things I didn't get to yesterday. So I'll empty the tomato hanging baskets, finish the cave, and continue my crochet project. I'll also do at least one job from my "finish off downstairs before Christmas" list, and list some things on Vinted.

Dd2 is still asleep at the moment. She just needs to check she has everything for tomorrow & make sure her room is tidy. She'll probably spend the rest of the day singing at the top of her voice to the Hades Town soundtrack 🎵.

Later on, it's stew & chunky homemade chips for tea. Not sure we have the makings of anything pudding-ey in but I'll have a look next time I get up.

After tea, it's showers and get sorted for the coming week, read for an hour or two, and an early night ready for work and college tomorrow.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning. It’s a quiet one here. I’ve got no solid plans and nothing that HAS to be done.

Ive just sat in the garden with my coffee. DH is listening to a podcast and DD is still asleep.

DH and I will take the dog for a walk late morning. I will probably do some clothes sorting for the week ahead. I just started a new job and I’ll be out at meetings for two days having spent most of the last 8 years wfh.

I definitely want to make a dent in my reading today. There’s also a film I want to watch. Sunday afternoon is my favourite time to watch a film, especially when I don’t feel I should be up and doing chores.

Salmon for tea. Have a good day 😊

violetcuriosity · 20/09/2026 09:45

Pottering after a day of hosting yesterday. 3 year old is playing quietly so we’re trying to crack on with the house work. Later going to my parents for lunch 🍂

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 20/09/2026 09:46

Good morning lucysmam and others. I'm still recovering from my birthday yesterday where I was treated to a really nice dinner by dd and dsil. Because of that, I had a bad night and my innards are still complaining (gallbladder trouble). Completely self inflicted. Today I will finish decorating the house for autumn then my ds is visiting this afternoon. Otherwise it will be quiet. Enjoy your day all

Bringyourfoldingchair · 20/09/2026 09:46

Good morning. I’ve had a lazy morning and DH brought me breakfast in bed. We’re at our caravan, heading home today. DH has took DS3 out for a walk so I will get up and showered, tidy and pack up, get the other two to get ready and we’ll think about hitting the road.
The house will need a good clean when we get home and I have some washing and ironing to do. I’ve a click and collect from Asda to get and a delivery from Iceland arriving so that will be us topped up for the week.
I’m doing roast chicken dinner later and then I think well maybe take the kiddies for a go in the park early evening before baths.
I might try and fit in a quick visit to my lovely uncle that’s in hospital at the minute too.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone!

Smallpoxy · 20/09/2026 09:48

I’m back in bed after breakfast and a cup of tea. I’m going to try to get another hour of sleep or listen to an audio book. DH is working in the garden.

In a couple of hours it’s time to do homework with Dd2.

In the afternoon we are going to a classical concert - a friend is performing.

Then a night shift at the hospital awaits. Oh joy.

RibenaCocktail · 20/09/2026 09:56

Just About to go to church, then my DPiLs, DSIL and her fiancé, and my Dparents are coming for lunch - SILs first time to see our new house, and PILs first time since it’s been decorated and has some furniture.

Hopefully they will leave early enough for me and DH to have a long walk this evening - we are trying to do 10,000 a day

Morning morning morning

After all the painful domestic jiggery pokery yesterday things are all under control here. School shirts washing for line drying/sun bleaching. H is a bit fragile as it was the boy’s turn to go out last night.

So will shortly wake teens they have a few things to do, youngster wants to go to big town for the afternoon so needs to remember he also has mocks next month.

We are having first roast of the season later, pork with cracking, roast potatoes, swede-carrot mash, steamed greens, cauliflower cheese, homemade Yorkshires, onion gravy (with mustard and horseradish). It’s a contender for their favourite meal but doesn’t happen in the summer. I love it, it’s easy cooking, radio on, nice glass of red wine, crosswords, weekend papers, board/card game. I am thinking of getting the chess board out and introducing the “chess puzzle” into the proceedings. I am sure between us we can work them out. Or at least happily bicker until we admit defeat!

Oh and I think there is important ball chasing to watch later (because of course there is!)

Have a nice Sunday all.

330ml · 20/09/2026 10:08

Not a lot. I’m relaxing in the shade of a tree after my morning swim in the sea. DH is preparing lunch.

I’m on holiday somewhere warm.

zingally · 20/09/2026 10:22

Morning all!

About to go and make a coffee, before settling down for a bit of a scroll on here. ;)
My aching back/ribs feel a bit better this morning. Still a bit tight and awkward, but much better than yesterday.

I've got two hours of free electricity from Octopus between 11 and 1 today, so been making a plan to take advantage of that. Will get the washing machine going to finish the last bit of holiday washing, and the dishwasher will get going as well.
We're doing a full-scale chicken roast for lunch, so that'll get put in at 11 and will be ready for a late lunch at about 1:30.

Time is ticking actually, so I best go and prep my potatoes to go in under the chicken. Coffee after. :)

Simonjt · 20/09/2026 10:30

Good morning, we’re at a Tyresta national park with the smalls and the dog, its dull but dry so we’ve had a really nice walk and explore. We’ll be heading back in a minute to get the metro as we’ve decided to treat ourselves to lunch out.

We’ve recently started watching Adults, so we might watch another episode tonight once the kids are in bed.

Have a nice sunday

cupfinalchaos · 20/09/2026 10:31

Cooking for an early dinner ahead of Yom Kippur, the Jewish day of atonement which is a 25 hr fast and comes in this evening; also cooking for tomorrow night to break the fast.

Tiddlywinks63 · 20/09/2026 10:32

Good morning everyone, I’ve just done 1.5 hours of tidying in the back garden, chopping back plants that have gone over, tidying the pots, tying in the long rose stems on the climbing roses, chopping back the irises in the pond etc.
It’s looking a bit drastic but I’m determined to get everything neater before the winter begins (yes, I know that a couple of months away!) Little has been done to it this year because I just couldn’t do it so it’s great to be able to get out there again.
I’m having soup for dinner, DH can finish the coronation chicken from yesterday, I’ll do some jacket potatoes to go with it, and there’s leftover crumble for pudding.
I need to hang out the washing, another load to do then the day is free!

Giggorata · 20/09/2026 10:41

Good morning lucysmam and all.
I am doing teapot and pills, preparatory to doing more in the stores. I am pleased with how well we got on yesterday.
Today is deep cleaning and arranging the stuff we're keeping in those large plastic boxes, like camping, witchy and Xmas stuff, also leaving some space on the countertops for seed trays with dog food, wellies etc, going somewhere.
Tomorrow our handyman is coming to help remove the huge sideboard, which sadly seems to have gone rotten at the back and sides. I will salvage the doors and drawer fronts, which are beautifully scrolled. I must think of a way to use them…
DH is off for his Sunday morning bargains hunt, so we could be having anything for dinner tonight. As a fall back, I have the makings of cottage pie.

FlorencenotRatchet · 20/09/2026 10:43

Morning
Dragged myself out of bed for a 15k run ( half marathon in 3 weeks) and then volunteered at junior Parkrun.
Home for breakfast and put a wash on.
Just about to have a soak in the bath before meeting a friend for lunch.
i have a couple of work bits to follow up later but hoping to start the new series of slow horses.

dicentra365 · 20/09/2026 10:47

I woke up early, pre 7.00am is too early for the weekend! I was coughing so got up to avoid disturbing dh who has been working flat out. I pottered round the house for a bit, put a wash on and got some things together ready to take down the refuse centre. Drove down there which was already busy and stopped on the way back to pick up a few things from the shops. We're going to a friends for lunch and meeting up there with more friends and I am bringing pudding, so I have to crack on with making that in a bit. I've just done a bit of work to get organised for the week too and need to think about all the usual work clothes, uniform etc. Have a good day everyone!

Tangerinesattack · 20/09/2026 10:51

Good morning all!
I've not posted for a while as I've been struggling with burnout but reducing hours at work has helped immensely and I'm very slowly starting to come back to myself. And back to our lovely Lucymam threads!

DH is sick in bed today with the cold / flu bug ds and I have had yesterday and Friday. So not planning anything too arduous. DS has a friend coming over for Sunday dinner so I'm giving the house a quick going over but it's not too bad. Laundry is on and I'd like to change the beds but we'll see how DH is! I'll try to drag DS out for a walk too.

Dinner will be roast chicken and apple crumble then some nonsense telly - I'm rewatching the mentalist. I'm finally feeling well enough to pick up some of the hobbies I used to love, so I'll carry on with some cross-stitch, too. I've got plans for a macrame wall hanging and I need to order the materials for that but I might wait until tomorrow when I get peace!

Have a great day everyone!

Rainbow1235 · 20/09/2026 11:40

Good morning lucysmam and to u all I was planning a quiet day but 3 adult children plus grandchildren have decided they are coming down so no quiet day for me but it will be lovely to see them and obviously they will expect to be fed so thinking Shepard’s pie then when they finally go I may start reading a new book . Have a great and safe day all 🫶

SereneReader · 20/09/2026 11:56

Got up at 10am and had toast and poached eggs for brunch.

Nipped to Asda to exchange some slippers.

Now I'm sat in the sun contemplating which jobs to do in the garden.

I have a lot on my mind at the moment so I'm pondering on some important decisions.

DilemmaDelilah · 20/09/2026 11:57

Good morning (just) @lucysmam and everyone.

We've been out and about - spent an enjoyable half hour (or more) in the scrap store picking up some very cheap crafty bits and some more boxes, then a meander round the Sainsbury's reduced sections before going for a coffee, where we are now.

Mr Dilemma will pick up chorister grandson from the cathedral after evensong - while he is out I will spend an hour on his Christmas stocking.

This afternoon I will sort out my new craft bits and maybe the sewing bits which are very disorganised at the moment.

Have a lovely day everybody.

DilemmaDelilah · 20/09/2026 12:05

@Tangerinesattack we are also having roast chicken, because I have just picked one up reduced. We are having plum crumble afterwards as I have taken one out of the freezer. We have some fresh green beans which were given to us a couple of days ago and some carrots, with roast potatoes and PLENTY of gravy. Mr Dilemma with have packet stuffing too, and a Yorkshire pudding 🤢🤢

gingercat02 · 20/09/2026 12:54

Man! I got all confused, yesterday's thread is still running.
Afternoon all, we have taken DS to halls, unpacked and then brought him home again, as he left his rucksack on his bed, with his laptop, charging hub and various other essentials.
Luckily he's staying in our local city so its not a big trip.
We're going out for lunch now and then I'll run him back in.
My mum is going to stay with us for a while, as she broke her arm on Tuesday and needs a bit of looking after. So I'll need to get her organised before I go back to work tomorrow.
Its a lovely sunny but breezy day here, happy Sunday 😊

OchreSwan · 20/09/2026 13:25

Afternoon all - late from me and after a couple of weeks away from these threads due to being on holiday!

Was up early this morning to go for a run and get some cleaning done. We’ve almost finished the holiday laundry and the rest of the house isn’t too bad as we’ve been away and therefore not using it! Back to work tomorrow so just come back from the mother of all big shops (lots of staples on offer so have stocked up massively).

Shortly heading over to our local for a couple of drinks and maybe a game of cards. Back home this evening for chicken caesar salad and tv. Early night with my book hopefully before the grind starts again tomorrow!

lucysmam · 20/09/2026 13:34

I'm quite productive today!

Baskets emptied, re-potted a cactus that's needed it for a while, four jobs off my "finish downstairs" list, Vinted items listed, washing done, cave finished, Vinted hunted for crochet thread ✅️.

I'm going to crochet for the afternoon, before tea, now.

It seems like today is roast chicken day! Ours was gorgeous. Did stuffing and pigs in blankets as well, so basically a christmas dinner practice run!

I've just now stripped the carcass bare, and thrown the rest in the bin. Not at the mental capacity level to make a broth or anything like that. There's enough chicken left for dinner tomorrow as well.

Didn't bother with a pudding, as have half of Dolly Parton's recipe for "Cuppa Cuppa Cake", which DD wanted to try making yesterday. We'll have the rest of that at teatime. Nice enough, but probably wouldn't bother with again.

I've also printed the tutoring stuff I'll need for all the kids I'll see this week. It's always quite a big job at the start of a new term, because everyone needs fresh stuff. In future weeks there won't be so much to get ready, as there'll be finishing off bits from past weeks to do as well.

Next job is to go and put away the clean washing that I've dumped on the bed, FINALLY finish emptying the suitcase from our holiday that we got home from on Monday night, put the suitcase in the roof, and then relax! The only other job will be packed lunches later on, and getting in the washing that's currently flapping away on the line. Could well be the last wash I'll get out this year, so making the most of it.

Chelsea26 · 20/09/2026 19:39

Evening all! I’ve missed these threads for a few weeks - nice to be back!

I slept late after having people over for dinner and a lot of wine last night for my birthday (on Tuesday) and I went straight to get my nails and a pedicure done for my holiday (also on Tuesday!)

My best friend’s birthday is the day after mine and for nearly thirty years we’ve been going away for our birthdays - big trips for my 5’s and her 0’s and little mini breaks for the normal ones. This is a normal one so we’re off to Sicily for 5 days. We’ve been putting money in a “fun fund” every month since university so every time we go away it’s ‘free!’

I spent the afternoon cooking so that DP doesn’t have to do it while I’m away - before anyone gets aggy about “useless men” (quite rightly) he’s not remotely useless but I booked this holiday ages ago and a really big project at his work got pushed back so now he is incredibly busy this week and it’s massively inconvenient for him to be looking after my children while I’m away. He hasn’t moaned, complained or asked me to do any prep for him but I can and will make it as easy for him as possible! He’s an absolute legend and I love him! 😍

We’re about to sit down for dinner, Cajun beefy, cheesy pasta and then we’ve got some Ted Lasso to catch up on…
