Stand up comedy. I watch at least 5 stand up shows every week and absolutely love it but wouldn't want to do it myself even for a million pounds!

True Crime. I'll happily sit and watch a 2 hour documentary about a family being murdered in the most violent way possible, but can't even say no to strangers in case I hurt their feelings 💔

Dressage.

30DegreesHighAndRising · 20/09/2026 00:56

Adrenaline sports like rock climbing, foiling/windsurfing, surfing.
Thinking about it, probably anything highly technical.

Also watching people make things.
During covid I enjoyed a YouTube channel where a guy showed a time-lapse video of him building a cabin in the woods in Canada. No chat, just lots of still images sped up.
I have no interest in doing DIY in the wild with bears appearing at the edge of the frame 😂

Rollercoasters and those extreme slides at water parks where the floor disappears beneath you.

I love those time-lapse videos of people building things in the woods. I used to watch Thai men building incredible structures out of bamboo.

Sewing/making clothes, fascinating!
sadly I’m not remotely crafty or good with colour, I can’t thread a needle or sew a basic stitch. I’m sure I could learn some of this but I’ve no desire to. But I do love watching creative people visions come to life, just in awe of their talents.

I like watching chiropractor videos on YouTube but the idea of going to one petrifies me!

Same with gymnastics and parkour - especially in my 40’s I think I would break every bone in my body

powershowerforanhour · 20/09/2026 01:03

Deep sea diving and the really deep stuff in submersibles.

SmallDFartyCarNRG · 20/09/2026 01:16

Fall in love again. I love watching the reality shows and watching them find someone and actually having it working out.
I would never ever want to try it again though, I don't have the energy for an extra person in my life any more. The idea of worrying that someone might not find me attractive and actually being upset about it is an anathema to me at the moment, let alone picking up another adult's underpants and washing them.

AdeleRochester · 20/09/2026 01:38

Spy movies.

I would make a really dreadful spy. 😆 I’d get caught and spill the beans at the first sight of even mild peril.

sueelleker · 20/09/2026 08:54

GBBO. I love baking, but all the decorating/icing is beyond me.

WorthySloth · 20/09/2026 08:57

Moshing at a metal gig. I stand on the edges and pick people up and push people back in but that’s as far as I’ll go. Too worried I’ll break a hip to get involved.

Brendayouknowthatyouremuchtoolazy · 20/09/2026 09:03

Ice skating. Looks incredible. Reality is it's cold, I have terrible balance and I can't ice-skate.
WorthySloth I can mosh though, it's brilliant fun. Though nowadays they turn round, see a middle aged woman standing there, apologise and move away...

The Nutty Putty tragedy 😢

Yep. I am mesmerised and horrified in equal measure!

MagpiePi · 20/09/2026 17:19

The Tour de France or any mad, endurance sports - ultra marathons, fell running etc.

I'd love to have the grit to carry on when injured or cold, wet and exhausted but I know I’d give up at the first twinge.

GreenEyesIsBack · 20/09/2026 17:22

I warch Disney food videos, but I absolutely don't want to go.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 20/09/2026 17:28

Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and things of that ilk. I love to watch a good dismemberment but I wouldn't want to do it! Think of the mess on the carpets, for one thing.

Imdonehere · 20/09/2026 17:31

I've taken to watching cleaning videos instead of actually doing any.

squashyhat · 20/09/2026 17:40

There's a bloke on YouTube (Post 10) who posts videos of himself unclogging drains and culverts blocked by leaves, mud and beaver dams. So satisfying to watch the water swoosh away but in reality it would be cold, wet, smelly hard work. I'll leave it to the professionals!

GoodkneeBadKnee · 20/09/2026 17:41

Synchronised swimming.

mrstambourinewoman · 20/09/2026 17:47

Boxing. Also following this explorer on TikTok who’s going to kayak through the Congo basin in a couple of weeks. I’ll be watching for updates

KojaksLollipop · 20/09/2026 17:51

I ride a motorbike and I watch lots of adventure bikers. There’s one woman (itchyboots) who travels the world as a lone woman, currently on a 1987 motorbike, she will go anywhere without a thought. She’s been to Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Yemen,Tajikistan, India, all over, she’s currently in China being followed everywhere by state security.

Nincompoo · 20/09/2026 17:55

I like to watch mechanics fixing cars but I pay people do my own cars and other your absolute basic car maintenance, I have no mechanical skills at all nor any desire to develop any.

MaRhodes · 20/09/2026 17:57

Agree with OP about standup comedy but skydiving came to mind
