For me it was Christine Cagney from Cagney and Lacey. I thought she was fabulous!

Princess Jasmine from Aladdin and Mulan

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 17/09/2026 16:51

Illya Kuriakin-the man from UNCLE
One of the Champions-preferably Alexandra Bastedo
Jeannie or Samantha. I had fantasies of locking Tony Nelson in the bottle and turning Derwerd into a frog.

Shirley Logan the travelling photojournalist in Shirley's World

I desperately wanted to go on Jim'll fix it! And older I've always wanted to play a dead body on some murder mystery. I used to practice playing dead and holding my breath.. I'm a completely normal 60+woman..

countrylifeorcitylife · 17/09/2026 16:59

I wanted to be Maddie And David (Moonlighting). Sort of am…but without the private detective agency or the past career in modelling Grin

Toastytina · 17/09/2026 17:03

I wanted to be a Pink windmill kid! 🤣

Tillow4ever · 17/09/2026 17:19

Wonder Woman! I remember spinning around like she did hoping one day I’d find I was her!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 17/09/2026 17:20

Audrey Fforbes Hamilton from To The Manor Born.
I would still love to have her self confidence.

BeMellowAquaSquid · 17/09/2026 17:40

She-rah! I once smacked a boy round the face (I was about 5) because he refused to play with me and be He-Man! Our families have remained firm friends for years it’s a story they all tell whenever the chance to embarass us arises.

Emma Peel (The Avengers) and Choo choo from Top Cat.

HorseandHeron · 17/09/2026 17:45

Tarzan, because he could swing on ropes and his best friend was an ape. Or Dr Doolittle who could talk to the animals. the female role models were thin on the ground in my childhood.

Samantha in Bewitched.

@HorseandHeron i was a big Tarzan fan too. I thought Tarzan had a great life - swinging through the jungle, swimming in rivers and hanging out with his animal friends. My siblings and I used to copy him and climb into the trees (climb the banisters).

I also thought Jennifer Hart had a great life. She was married to a millionaire, had a fabulous house, a cute dog anad a faithful retainer. Oh and she solved lots of mysteries.

MargaretThursday · 17/09/2026 18:08

Anne from Famous Five
