Anyone else wish holiday websites showed airport transfer times more clearly?

To wish travel websites would put the distance from the airport to the accommodation when travelling abroad.

Does anyone find this a pain. I like to see how long the transfer is as I don't want anything over an hour.
It's never obvious, you have to start looking it up separately or delve into the website .

Does anyone agree. Would you like to see the distance to the accommodation more obvious when you book a holiday.

I’ve always found it easily in jet2/ easyJet/ TUI. They usually cite the distance and then transfer time (by coach).

Advocodo · 15/09/2026 09:26

I wish the flight times were much more obvious!! Flight times are very important to me.

BirdLandedonmyHead · 15/09/2026 09:29

Your iternary should give the planned time to get to tour accomodation.

The transfer time might be 45 mins, but actually you are waiting an hour at the airport fir another plane to arrive...

Flippoflak · 15/09/2026 09:30

I didn't think transfer times were as simple as distance from airport to hotel, as sometimes the same transport goes to multiple hotels and you might be the last drop off. Remember a colleague moaning that it took 2.5 hours between the airport and getting dropped off for a journey that direct would have taken 40 minutes.

Danhausenrocks · 15/09/2026 09:33

I agree with you

Yes, as other posters say, you can easily open another tab and use Google Maps, but actually I think if you're a travel agent trying to sell that holiday, you should put that information clearly in the listing.

Last year we went back to the same resort in Portugal as the year before specifically because it was only a 30-minute transfer from the airport, If I'm taking a short flight of 2hrs, I personally don't then want to add on another 2hrs travel time to get to the hotel. We spent ages looking up options last year, only to then discount them because that information wasn't clear up front.

And also yes to room layouts!

Try Google Maps!

I know about Google maps.

It seems there are still other things the websites don't address at a glance. A few have been mentioned.

Exactly I was looking for a holiday in Portugal recently every single one I looked at was miles from the airport. A quick filter within half an hour of the airport would have been great.

Its literally another tab open. If you're not computer savvy enough to manage that you should probably not be booking a holiday online.

Rude.
I've booked lots of holidays and so have other people on here. There's definitely a need for improvement.
I think the companies want to focus on price above all else and not some of the details people would like.

That's good. Which hotel ?

They don’t tell you an exact time because it depends if they are combining multiple flights onto a coach then stopping at multiple hotels, it can vary a lot. If transfer time is key I’d opt for private

You need a rough idea though when making a decision.
Once went to Turkey and had a good 2 hour transfer in the middle of the night. Never again 😭

Mind you that was years ago when they did dirt cheap holidays and you didn't know in advance where you were going even. Allocation on arrival. 😲

Would never do that again. Can't imagine it happening now anyway.

But it’s not always as straight forward as google maps if you are being if transported by coach as in some cases they will be taking a route for wider vehicles which wouid differ to a car or even a bus. Often when dropping others off your coach is sat for there for 10 minutes while a rep gets people in the hotel. You don’t know if your stop is first or last of 12 hotels. Too many variables to make google accurate

Lomonald · 15/09/2026 11:00

Tui/love holidays/jet 2 all show transfer times, it is something I always look for,

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 15/09/2026 11:01

But yes agree some tour operators websites are definitely more helpful than others. Always found Jet2 pretty good. Actually for pretty much every aspect of the holiday they do it very well

I agree. Aside of the unbearable Jess Glynne song, I've always found them really good. And when you use filters on their site to search, the filters actually work!

Monndayhello · 15/09/2026 11:16

This is why I travel independently and direct book. It means I know exactly what I'm getting and it is often cheaper. I've done this for years and years and never once been stranded.

Surely you just look on a map at which resorts are within half an hour of the airport and filter by resort.

Choose a few resorts wherever you are going to and then Google the transfer time. If you prefer a shorter transfer it will save you a lot of time trawling through hotels too 🌞

Can you filter for distance from airport though and heated pools and the room layout that people have suggested. I do think the main focus is on price.

I suppose you can do that., but it would be better to have all the info in one place and filters.
