If you eat Premier Inn breakfasts - BEWARE!!

Ok, clickbaity title, sorry about that!

I just wanted to warn everyone who gets the vegan sausage/bacon for Premier Inn breakfasts, that they've gone back to using Quorn!! Since A LOT of people are intolerant to Quorn, myself included, this could be a horrible 'find-out-the-hard-way' discovery, so I want to spread the word. I'm so glad I double checked before ordering today!!

Quorn is a type of mould / fungus I think

I always avoid Premier Inn breakfasts anyway if I possibly can. IME they're overpriced for what they are.

Thank you OP.

Quorn is some weird stuff. As far as I was aware, I had no allergies/intolerances to anything at all. I'm a greedy pig and will eat anything put in front of me - not remotely fussy and mostly don't care what stuff is, will just gobble. Well, quorn made me feel really rough (stomach cramps etc). I thought surely it wasn't that so a few years later, ate it again. I puked. I almost never puke.

I think quorn must be some weird filthy stuff. As I have the constitution of an ox and no kind of food has ever done this to me.

It is not “filthy stuff” at all, it’s myco-protein made from funghi (mushroom).

I love informative threads like these 😄, not even vegan but good to know, merci! X

@GqqkkqQuorn gives me terrible stomach cramps too - I was vegetarian for years and now eat meat but the symptoms are the same.

i used to sometimes have the delicious quorn chicken nuggets but they always gave me the most terrible side effects!

Love quorn!

Really pleased back to Quorn. Cauldron are the king of the veggie sausage but quorn come next.

FourSevenFive · 12/09/2026 08:26

I hate it when vege/vega stuff is marked only with the vege/vega instead of the main ingredient as normal food.

I'm an omnivore, I like eating lots of non-meat stuff, but I want/need to know what I'm eating.

Turkey ham, pork sausage, soya cubes with extra vegan sign, quorn sauage with extra vegan sign, spinach and cheese lassagne with extra vegetarian sign, it isn't that hard.

I'm not allergic to many things in a sense I'd be worried about cross-contamination. I just have lower tollerance of some ingredients sometimes - and I want to decide for myself.

No way! The best veggie sausage is Richmond. They’re almost indistinguishable from cheap crap pork sausages!

I concur.

But the quorn thing isn't really an allergy so it might not cross someone's mind, especially if they've been before and it wasn't quorn.

OP literally stayed she has an intolerance - if you knew that surely you'd mention it when being asked specifically about allergies?
