Weekend parking at Stafford or Stockport for trains into Manchester Piccadilly

Hello, I need to get the train into Manchester picadilly on Saturday, but will drive part of the way. Does anyone know what the parking is like at the weekend at either Stafford or Stockport please? Thanks in advance!

Stafford multi-storey next to the station is safe and convenient. Pay at the station using the machines. Disabled access. Don’t remember how much but cheaper at weekends. Would recommend.

If I do this I park at East Didsbury Metrolink rather than Stockport Railway Station - free parking but you pay for the tram journey.

Stockport station has plenty of parking in the NCP car park next door but it is ££££ (although perhaps the train ticket will be sufficiently cheaper than from Stafford?). I like the option suggested by @joelcreasey although the tram will be slower than the train I expect

Yes, slightly longer journey time but regular services and I find them much more reliable! Also, if I’m storming a whole day in town it’s only the price of my journey and not increasing per hour.
