DH just ruined my evening

I’m just chilling out in bed watching below deck, and DH strolls in and says “I was in the bathroom earlier and the biggest house spider I’ve ever seen ran between my feet” …so I said “what did you do with it it?”

“Nothing”.

Why would he think this is an acceptable thing to tell me?

Where the fuck is it?

I hope you don't ever leave your washing out overnight, OP 😀

I keep massive tarantulas and am not usually scared of such things but was once bitten by a house spider and had a seriously nasty infection.

It was a brown spindly one. I don’t blame anyone for being cautious.

We have a False Widow living in our knife block and she’s no trouble. It depends very much on the spider.

Some of them are cunts.

Cellar spiders are the name of the long legged ones. I've only had one GHS in the house this year... Right next to where the huge Cellar Spider hangs out. I usually would rescue them if I see GHS and put them outside but it was late and I was tired... So it's either been killed or is still lurking in my tiny bathroom...

Fwiw... If you don't like the idea of GHS in the house... Wait until you see a Cardinal Spider for the first time... I almost died from fear... And I'm not scared of spiders but even a cereal bowl wouldn't have been big enough to catch it... Not that I went anywhere near it, after initially walking past it and probably being close enough it could have tapped me on the shoulder...

Fwiw #2... GHS
absolutely do go on the bed. I was on antihistamines that had a sedative effect on me... I felt the nicest little tickle run across my legs then a black blur disappear over the edge... But I was too tired to give a shit and kinda wanted it to tickle my legs again!

Just googled cardinal spider and now I’m scared to go to sleep

Notthisagainyouidiot · 08/09/2026 23:48

I have zero problem with spiders and usually protect them from cat. But the fuckers walk across my alarm sensors so I do evict over a certain size. The last one required a pint glass and looked like it was on steroids.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 08/09/2026 23:51

I’ve joined in on the Cardinal Spider googling and that was one of the fuckers that bit me.

And from looking at pictures of their bites I got off lightly…

You weigh probably 1000 its weight. What’s it’s going to do, tickle you to death?

Grow up.

We all have our own irrational fears. Just because you’re fine with spiders doesn’t mean everyone is. How about you grow up with your attitude?

Sensiblesal · 09/09/2026 00:07

have the fire brigade managed to put the fire out?

Theheatishot · 09/09/2026 00:12

I had to remove this one the other day. I was home alone. It was beyond terrifying to catch this enormous beast in a glass!!

DH just ruined my evening
Change2banon · 09/09/2026 00:15

Arrrghhh nooooo, we don’t need photos!! Fwiw, that’s not a beast, we get waaay bigger than that! 😬😬

DH thinks he has some kind of "Spidar" and can always sense a spider in the room. I always have to catch them and take them outside. ( yes, I know it's probably bad for them but better than being vacuumed up)
I haven't told him there's been a gigantic spider sitting behind the bedroom curtain for two days. He's oblivious. 😁

I was once given a cough syrup that made me feel dreadful and made me see "spiders" as a visual distortion, and it's made me extremely hypervigilant to spiders.

My Spidar has turned me into some sort of spider assassin by proxy, because I can see them in low light on a dark or patterned surface. They don't bother me, but it's left me paranoid so I end up asking is that a real spider or am I imagining things and someone else in the house jumps into action to vacuum it up or chuck it outside. The good news is they are always real spiders and I am not hallucinating. Bad news for the spiders though.

AlexandraCarrington · 09/09/2026 00:20

He has to find it and kill it surely?

If you wish to live and thrive
Let a spider run alive

I’d really expect a mental health practitioner (what was it again… hypnotherapist?) to be more understanding of people’s fears and feelings. 🤔

If the OP had said she has an irrational fear and she'd like help in resolving it then I'd be very understanding. But, from her posts, she doesn't seem to want to stop being afraid.

Oh give over with your sanctimonious drivel.

Laurmolonlabe · 09/09/2026 10:33

I would be expected to catch it and release it- my DP hates spiders but also hates anything being killed.

🤣 sorry! I'd walked past it in my bedroom, was only when I turned around that I saw it! My whole body froze and then I panicked and looked around, thinking what would fit around it and I had nothing! As an adult, I admit I rang my dad, almost crying 🤣 he told me to get the neighbour but that would mean walking past it again!

I threw some clothes at it hoping to squash it but it ran into my child's bedroom! It was a mess in there and I didn't want to risk it running up my arm so I closed the door and my child stayed in my room with me. A few weeks later, I cleared through the bedroom but never saw it again but it was the most tense clean up I've ever done!

No one believed me when I said how big it was until I found out about cardinals and felt justified and showed everyone, I knew I wasn't just exaggerating 😭🤣

@HussleMe are you suggesting OP DH has been unfaithful with a SPIDER?

OP check his phone and get your ducks in a row

😂he's weaved a web of lies and deceit!

Greenlawnbrownlawn · 09/09/2026 15:46

Apparently an average house spider weighs 0.038g. You probably weigh just slightly more than 1000x that!

Whaaaatszuuup · 09/09/2026 15:51

My friend once buttoned a spider inside of her duvet cover.

Livpool · 09/09/2026 16:14

LTB - in his spider house 😱

Guiltypleasures001 · 09/09/2026 16:22

It’s in the airing cupboard rubbing it’s Willy on your fresh bedding and towels Grin
