I have just bought myself a really expensive (for me) diamond ring. £1.5k. I've been planning to do so for.a few years now. I'm so happy the day is finally here.

There's several reasons for this purchase.

-A 50th birthday present to myself.
-XH promised me a very expensive ring to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. Our wedding/ engagement rings were bought when penniless uni students, so the ring was to be the treat we couldn't afford then. However we split when i caught him cheating for the 3rd time a few months after our 20th wedding anniversary.
-My finances are finally back on track after the divorce.
-A house extension was paid off a few months ago, so i could save for the ring.
-I got a new job a few months ago that i was head hunted for. More money and likely to be promoted in the next year.
-I've made it through some really tough years emotionally and financially and i was generous with my time and love throughout it all.
-Why the heck not?

I had a little happy tear outside the shop because of all the things purchasing this ring represents to me.

It's my "You are an amazing woman and you always will be" ring. I can't wait to wear it out for the first time!

Celebrate with me!

Not in the same circumstances but I brought myself a ring a few months ago it is such a special feeling.
Your ring is absolutely gorgeous, congratulations on prioritising you for a changexx

Awesome. I often dream of doing the same. I am still in the trenches. 30 year marriage ended by my cheating husband. Devastated. Trying to sell the house and get myself on stable financial ground. Already gone for and got a promotion. I'll get there, and when I do I will buy myself a ring from me to me. A promise and a celebration.

That is a beautiful ring and yes , every time you wear it and someone admires it - which they will- you will have that little frisson that it's a "To Me, Love From Me" ring and enjoy it .

Me too @Threekandles

You WILL get there. It takes time to work everything through but what a day once you take your last step out of the final shadow and into the sunshine.

Promise me you'll tag me in your celebration thread on your ring buying day.

Sending you strength as you walk the journey 💪

Thank you all for your kind words. The journey was hard. The outcome is a woman who is happier living her life now than she ever has been.

People at my new place of work comment how they need to take a leaf out of my book as they see me living life to the full. They don't know the old me - those who do remark now and then how I'm a much more happier me.

And the ring IS beautiful, isn't it? I was clear in my head I didn't want a solitaire. I wanted something open. And that sparkled.

A To me, love from me ring. I'm stealing that @70isaLimitNotaTarget !

It really is lovely and sparkly and it has a lot of presence on your hand without being overstated or 'bling'. I like the way you have a slightly different set of the larger diamonds on the outer bands to contrast with the close set diamonds in the middle - that's unusual and distinctive, yet it's not the sort of ring that will date.

ClaudiaNaughton · 29/08/2026 13:58

Like shooting stars, gorgeous!

TourDeChance · 29/08/2026 14:03

That is a gorgeous ring. Congratulations on being you.
