Has anyone used a speed limiter to avoid further speeding points?

I had a speeding ticket last year for 35 in a 30 - a hot spot for speeding tickets , as you’re coming from a 40 coming from a flyover . I did a course and I didn’t get points.

Just had another - 37 in a 30. This is on a highway I think it’s called - a long stretch of road - that was always a 40 and has an average speed check. My own fault , I knew it had changed . I remember the day , I was in a rush but I wasn’t deliberately speeding .. the road was pretty empty , I guess I kind of thought I could speed up a little between cameras but I do know i am always looking and realising I’m a bit over I’ll slow down. I’m not justifying it but I am a very conscious driver , I always get cars overtaking me for staying at the limit - I don’t want anyone to think I was zooming around residential streets.

Anyway, this is a motability car and I don’t want to risk losing my licence . I have just responded to the notice and no details of penalty yet but from what I read as I’ve done a course I will now get a fine and 3 points on my licence. I don’t want more.

Does anyone use a speed limiter on their car ? How does this work ? If I set it to 30 but then I’m going on roads with a 40 or 50 limit is this easy to change as I am driving along ?

Where I am, all cameras on motorway take averages, this stops people racing along and slowing down for a camera, which makes more sense.

My car has an hysterical fit if I speed, it not only dings repeatedly but speaks repeatedly with that to alert me I am over the speed limit. I slow down to shut it up. There is also hologram comparison of speed limit versus actual speed, which I do find useful in general.

I don't think it's a typo. It might not be a literal hologram but a lot of cars have heads-up displays which project information onto the base of the windscreen so you don't have to take your eyes off the road to glance at your speedometer.

Since my speeding ticket last year, 33 in a 30 (this was new, it had always been 40 but they revised a short stretch of road and put a new camera up), I use my speed limiter when I’m in Average Speed check areas or where I know there are cameras. I find it just takes the anxiety of getting another notice.

I just use cruise control, it's really useful. I use it in 30mph and 40mph speed limits on all roads except very windy country lanes. Mine is adjustable on the steering wheel.

I'd say I use it about 80% of the time.

It was described as a hologram when I bought my car.
Mine is built in and I can see it perfectly at my height when im driving but if dh is in my car he cant see it.
I like it and if my next car doesn't have it as a built in feature I am going to buy a unit.

I use my limiter a lot. I don’t have points but I use the limiter to avoid breaking the speed limit. You need to pay more attention OP.

I guessed we could alter it but its not often dh drives my car.
I like the idea of princess Leia holograms though!

I used my speed limiter today and I wish I had known about it before - it would have saved me 3 points and a fine! I felt so much more comfortable knowing I didn’t have to keep checking and it’s very easy to change as I’m driving along too so I will be using it all the time!

One thing I did notice - so maybe a warning if anyone else uses it - I was using it fine and then I parked up to go to Asda. When I started driving again , it looked like it was on on the display and I had it set to 30 but I went into a 40 and noticed it let me go over 30 so I had to turn it off and on again .

My speed limiter is on the stalk. Never even knew it existed till I had to do a speed awareness course (23 in a 20 limit -loads of ‘20’ near me)
Easy to change when the limit does, one flick- I now use it on every journey so just habit.
