messaging someone online, we have met for one date, he was ok but I’m not blown away by him, he’s had 3 failed relationships, but I get that’s normal these days, and a kid who’s not his but he brought up from birth no longer speaks to him, he doesn’t know why she’s 21 now. Anyway we were chatting by text about work, my job is physically demanding, a lot of heavy lifting, get worn out easily, and I start at 6am everyday, I was just generally saying how I didn’t want to go back to work this week and he replied oh it’s not bad you only do half days, yes I finish at 12.30 but I’m up at 4.15 everyday, I found his comment quite patronising was it?

It’s just an utterly stupid thing to say if he knows you start at 6am.

Going off on a tangent but it always concerns me a little when someone says they read too much into things or overthink things. It makes me wonder who is telling them that. If they’ve reached that conclusion because they know their thoughts are often wrong, fair enough. That would be pessimism or worse, catastrophising.

But if they find their reading of situations often turns out to be fairly accurate then they should trust their gut/ instincts and judgment. And if they aren’t doing that because others are telling them they read too much into things they should tell those people to zip it or perhaps more diplomatically, ignore them

well he messaged me this morning after me messaging him last night to say I don’t feel we are compatible, I didn’t just want to ghost him, thought that was the end of it, but he wrote “so are we not going out tomorrow night?” 🙄

Now block

RosieCockle · 28/08/2026 07:51

What do you mean by three failed relationships? Surely every relationship a person has before their current one - unless the person died - “failed”??
