What do I need to bear in mind when buying a trampoline?

I have 2 x DC (7 and 8) and want to get them a trampoline.

I think I want an above ground one as might need to juggle things around in our new garden as we kit it out.

Do i need a 8 or 10ft one?
Ive seen one that you put thr net up and down with each use which seems like a good idea? For both keeping thr cover on and to stop it blowing away?
I assume I also need some stakes to hold it in the ground, we have a large patio so could I keep it there?

Which brands are sturdiest?

Don't forget to make sure and large pets can't get underneath the trampoline as a jumping child could seriously injure a large dog.

We had another net surrounding the base to keep our large dogs out from under the trampoline at all times.

I'd be leaving the upper net up at all times too (unless weather particularly bad) because kids won't reliably tell you that they're going to go on the trampoline, and it'll discourage them from using it if they've to wait 20mins before you get the net in place before they can use it?

I’m not sure why people are acting like a pp is over dramatising risks of trampolines to children. They cause a disproportionate number of life changing head, neck and spinal injuries and fractures from trampoline injuries tend to be more complex than fractures sustained in other accidents. More than half of children injured are being supervised when they are injured on a trampoline. That doesn’t mean that nobody should get a trampoline but highlighting the risks of injury is just providing information.

The OP knows her kids and if they’re likely to stick to safe trampolining like one at a time and no flips and can balance the increase in the injury risk of having a trampoline against the benefit of exercise and fun outside, and consider if there are alternatives she’d rather get instead.

If I were going to get a trampoline, I’d get a Springfree one, though they are more pricy.

Will look into a spring free one and have abandoned the idea of the move able net one,!

get one with a net and make sure you can secure it during windy weather. It doesn’t take much for it to risk taking off

Get a rectangle one. Mine like doing summersaults and they prefer the length of a rectangle over a circle. Also fits better into more spaces.
