We used to have a month of xmas now its like 6 months of it, really takes the fun out of it all.
One of my many reasons i dont do christmas at all.

Agreed - I was born in the 70s and Xmas didn’t start in our house until at the very least until the 10th December, sometimes later and I think that was the norm, but it made it so exciting because there was never long to wait. Parents went food shopping a few days before Xmas - absolutely unheard of these days.

I know for my mother it was obviously longer than that but as a kid, when the tree went up we knew it was less than two weeks to go. Now it can be anything up to two months! There are people on our street who put the tree up on November 1st. The reasoning is all the same "Oh I love Xmas!" ok, but surely by the 25th it has lost all its specialness annd novelty.

When DD2 was born near Xmas day I started making sure that the tree only went up two days after her birthday so it didnt get overshadowed, the kids knew they only had a few days to wait. In the end she was about 8 when she said she wanted to put the tree up ON her birthday as it made her birthday more special haha!

The other week I saw a bloke round the shops with a t shirt with 'I am a c**t' written on it in massive letters. I was a bit puzzled why he would wear it, but it didn't look liie false advertising on him TBH. Saw your thread title and made the weird connection that they were now selling these t shirts in Morrisons and that was why. Was glad to see the selection box not my tacky t shirt imaginings tbh 😁

I have seen those, I buy a lot of Tees from those sort of sites (not that sort!) and I think that the people who buy think they are being all edgy and funny. Not ironic as they dont understand the concept.

And no one has yet told them that they just look like desperate attention seeking twats.
