Best London park for a walk and picnic?

Never been to any London parks...fancy having a nice walk then picnic.

Staying central London for 3 days so can do any. Will bw tubing and walking

Regent’s Park or Hyde Park x

Personally I would choose Richmond Park but that might be too hard to get to. Next best is Hampstead Heath or Regents Park and Primrose Hill.

Depends a bit on where you are in central London. I love Regent's Park and Hampstead Heath but there are so many other lovely parks to choose from.

St James. Beautiful flower displays, pond with lots of birds including pelicans, views of Buckingham Palace, Horseguards Parade.

Good choice and suggestion. Also Kenwood House is gorgeous. Lots of great pubs and places to eat. Fabulous views of London.

Hampstead Heath for a wilder walk where you can get lost for a few hours, to include Golders hill with its lovely pergola.

Regents Park for a tamer walk to include Primrose Hill for the views.

Kensington Gardens for the tradition, the palace and the Italian Gardens.

Green Park and St James for Buckingham Palace and the pelicans.

Holland Park for the Japanese Gardens.

Honestly, all the parks in central London fit the bill which I think is why you’re getting questions on where you’re staying - the closest will be as amazing as the furthest away.

Personally, for the experience you want I’d go to Fortnum & Mason to pick up lunch/picnic (the bagels downstairs are great value!) and then take them to Green Park to eat. That way you get two experiences in one.

That said my favourite is St James: compact and incredible views from the little bridge of Buck Palace and HMT. You can then walk through Horseguards Parade to Whitehall for the pub experience.

I live in London and my favourite parks are Battersea Park, St James Park and Holland Park. Crystal Palace park also has a place in my heart but that’s very out of the way for you.

I also love Hampstead Heath but wouldn’t consider it a park.

Primrose Hill for the view?

St James's Park and Green Park and Hyde Park and Kensington gardens are all in a row one after the other so you could do any combination depending on how far you want to walk.

Greenwich Markets is full of quaint independent stalls, with an antiques market round the back near the Ibis hotel. There’s also loads of free museums there.
