Just counted 6 in Active with christmas in the title.
Are we being brigaded with extra tinsel?

It’s bonkers. But people are bonkers about Christmas. I can’t stand it. Too many bad memories. I find it all really triggering. Couldn’t hate it any more than I do. Any Christmas talk should be moved to the Christmas board so those us who don’t want to be reminded (again) that Christmas is coming can avoid it!

Apologies for making you relive Xmas related trauma. Here's a very unchristmassy🐰 (hope you don't have bad easter memories!)

It generally is just on the Christmas board. A poster was just querying why it's been mentioned a few times today (that's why this thread is here - nothing more).

I can understand some people don't enjoy it - everyone is different 💐

I volunteer with the British heart foundation and Christmas cards have been delivered and will be on the shop floor before the end of the month.
By November I am sick of the sight of them.

Sure people can chat about Christmas, or Eid, or Hanukkah, I'm not the thread police. It was the sheer number all at once, started this morning - a random weekend in August, that looked suspicious. 🎄

There were two started today and two started yesterday.

You would be surprised!

Christmas themed events are selling out, theatre tickets, Santa experiences, restaurants for Christmas Day.... if someone wants to get the best seats/do something specific; you have to book early 🎄

Yes. We were very lucky to be able to get a table for Christmas Day.

I wonder if they're something to do with advertising?

I used to work somewhere that had Christmas connections and I know for certain that most of the customers were not making their plans in August never mind most of the population

It’s ok to look forward to your summer holidays in advance but not Christmas? Why? Millions of us love it and all the prep. Can’t come soon enough I say

My DH books our summer holidays sometimes 2 years ahead and plans like someone possessed.
So he knows better than to give me any cheek when I reach my my Christmas Notebook to write things

It is, my original post was disputing the fact that apparently most people are already sorting out their plans, I really really don't think they are but the PP hasn't come back to the thread

Obviously some people are, that's not being disputed but it can't possibly be the norm

Oioiqueen · 22/08/2026 18:57

I would imagine that now a lot of people are back from their summer holidays and sorted for work / return to school they are focusing on the next thing.

I'm usually one that starts relatively early, more making lists generally so when people ask me things I have the info there to just copy and paste such as gift lists for the kids. I'll actively look at posts to get ideas.
