Why can’t we speak to animals?

We can learn other languages so why can’t we speak to animals? Or understand their communication

The buttons are used by cats and birds too. Parrots turn out to have really sophisticated understanding.

Because we wouldn’t like hearing them asking us to stop eating them

I talk to the neighbours cat all the time, and he talks to me 🤷🏻‍♀️

We can if we focus. I have had my dog for a little over 5 years and we communicate well. I know her different barks and grumbles for what she wants.
She has just lost her big cat sister and knew I came home without her but doesn’t understand why and there is a lot of talking over this.

Don't know about you but I have conversations constantly with my dog (she looks at me and I speak back for her) yes I do probably look crazy especially when out walking her and i speak on her behalf to the children too 😂🤣

There are tons of animals using buttons or tablets for communication. We can talk to them, we just have to teach them how to talk to us. Animals understand a surprising amount of the things we say.

We can communicate with animals but I doubt your pet Guinea Pig’s brain is complex enough to interact with you in the way you are hoping for.

I"m more fluent in cat, though my current girl cat is something of an enigma. Maybe its because Ive not had a girl cat for a long time and I"m really only fluent in boy cat

We can certainly communicate if we take the time to observe and build relationships.
My cat and I communicate very well and I also had very good communication with my horses when they were still here.
It’s humans I struggle with because they lie and are frequently horrible.

I read about this somewhere and it said that even if animals and humans spoke the same language we couldn’t understand one another as our lives are so different and mean such different things.

Mine does. Honestly if I could post a video, she properly chats. Doesn't sound like a cat all, she has loads of different sounds. I know I sound mental but she answers me back, particularly if I'm telling her off 😂
She actually drives us nuts because she is so vocal all the time.

I mean given how many animals communicate by sniffing each other's urine, I'm good thanks.

My cow (house cow - she’s 10 and we’ve had her all her life) is definitely more intelligent than most cows, but she understands lots of words, such as Stop, wait, no, her name when I call her, baby, my husband’s name, gate etc and I can tell her mood
by her face / body language. I think this would be the case with many more animals but it requires the time and inclination to build a relationship.

I speak to my dogs all the time , and I understand what they telling me

I talk to my dog all the time. He understands some words but mostly if I tell him what to do, he ignores me, as he thinks he is the boss. Hence why he is always shouting at me.

Because humans don’t speak on the same frequency as animals. Do we couldn’t learn it.

All our different languages English, Japanese, Russian ect are on the same frequency so easier can eventually learn it.

However dolphins are the only animal to share the same frequency as us - even when our babies babble - new born dolphins babble in the same frequency - incredible! - so essentially we could learn dolphin 😁

Completely agree with this! There are books about it too. Cats communicate vocally but more through body language. Tail, ear and whisker movements and their body position as a whole.

I understand springer spaniel all too well, mine's very communicative and expressive. He's particularly good at getting his point across by means of the spaniel side-eye. I reckon he's got me figured out pretty well too at this stage.

We do. That's how people compete horses or doing fancy dance moves with dogs.

Dogs, when trained, understand commands, they are vital in finding evidence of crimes, locating casualties, you name it, dogs can do it 😉
