Help can daughters haircut be rescued to what she wanted?

DD is gutted with her new hair cut she wanted and edgy mullet instead she describes it as she looks like a middle aged mum from the 80s about to go to knitting club. Nothing wrong with that but not the look she was going for at 19.

Can this be rescued and turned more into what she wanted? I wonder if it needs the top layers shortened or does she just what a few weeks then do something?

She has ringlets 3B hair but fairly thin although lots of it so looks thick.

Posting with DD permission can you help give her ideas whilst her hair is pretty when it's long it takes a lot of work and irritates her.

She wanted a slightly shorter version of the images.

They might be ok doing curly long hair styles but this is a modern mullet !
Go on their Instagram page or socials and if there isn't any cuts like your daughters don't do it !

i love it from the back and am quite envious of her curls but i agree she needs a fringe and maybe a bit more shaping around the sides/ears x

Curly shag doesn't work on thin hair, though there's a lot of it, that curls though.

Yes this is her first day styling it, it was cut yesterday.

DS2 had a horrific haircut recently. Was meant to be a mullet but looked EXACTLY like when Phoebe cuts Monica's hair in friends and does it like Dudley Moore. He had a 2 day long meltdown and wouldn't leave his room (audhd). Managed to get him to a barber who fixed it. After a few weeks it has now settled and looks the best it ever has.

I have curly hair and wouldn’t go anywhere other than a curly hair specialist, everyone else has fucked up my hair and has no idea that it needs strong hold gel, not a 1p size amount of serum

I'd say it is rescuable. It needs thinning out around the ears and temples. Find a stylist who has edgy style themselves so they know what she wants.

I think the back and sides are nice but she's not gone far enough for the mullet look and I think the fringe may be a little too short - mine pings up and when it's wet comes below my nose but dry is a similar length

also newly cut curly hair does have a tendency to ping the next day before settling

how has she styles it - does she have a straighter to pull out some of the fringe curls while they settle down?

I would have a play also how she dries her fringe as they can be a pain the arse when they are curly to stay over ones forehead- there are some great curly stylists on TikTok so I would get some curl
cream/ serum and have a play

You might need to find a more alternative hairdresser. I (middle aged mum) go to one where all the staff are gay/trans etc with blue hair. They specialise in edgy cuts. I've had a few edgy one, but normally get something normal, but I go there because they always do exactly what you want. High Street salons, even expensive ones, have a very limited range of styles because most people want something standard.

What happens when she tucks it behind her ears - the style pictures have a lot of height / volume on the crown has she diffused her hair upwards to get the volume?

I also think it's almost there but she should find a hairdresser who has cut a 'wolf cut' before because that's the shape that's missing around the front.

But I wonder if she tried styling the front part forward and tuck the sides back it would already be closer to what she wants as it is. This hair style has to be styled.

I wasn't talking about your hair I was simply saying that particular cut needs a good cutter who is good with technical cuts !!!
When u go to a curly hair specialist it's so your curls fall in their natural curl pattern depending on what style u have !
Your haircuts have simply been bad because their are alot of terrible haircutting in hair salons !!
I know just by looking at someone's hair if it's been cut properly most people don't have any idea their walking around with terrible haircuts !!
And I have worked in a lot of salons and I have had colleagues who are qualified but can't do a good haircut it's laughable tbh !
It's so bad that a celebrity hairdresser I know has tried to change how colleges train apprentice's but alot tried his method and failed it's not easy cutting hair !

Yes it needs to be shorter at the sides and a fringe added. It’s a totally different shape to what she asked for!

She’s very lucky that the problem is that there’s too much hair left on the sides so yes it can definitely be fixed. Phew!

By the way, looks like she has a face shape where it will look lovely on her once cut properly!

Thank you everyone for the kind words and advice, we are going to pop into a different hairdressers when she has a day off next week and see what they say.
