First pub visit in the UK and feeling good

GuapoLatino · 25/07/2026 10:26

First time at the pub and couldn’t believe that got treated differently because Mexican (in a good way) the men liked talking about fútbol and the ladies appreciated my accent or whatever that means 😂

Probably the coolest feeling. People who said don’t come to the UK or UK people don’t like Spanish people had to be kidding!

Any recommendations for parties 😂 or should I start my own lol

Welcome! I actually think the UK is one of the most welcoming, diverse countries.

I have never heard of UK people not liking Spanish people! Have the people that told you that ever been here? 🤣

lol probably not! Dude it was fun! The guys were a total party and the ladies were welcoming too 😂

Maybe it’s just that pub ambience, either way awesome night

If there's one thing that we do well in the UK, it's pubs 🩵😊 massively underrated imo (and I don't even drink any more, so it's not necessarily a booze related thing!). It's somewhere you can always go, where everyone is welcome, everyone is friendly, and you get talking to all sorts of people. Love a good pub

Glad you had a good time 😊 😊

Definitely underrated lol! Never thought pub was the first stop but it might be a constant stop to make just for the fun chats and meet awesome people.

Any other recommendations?

had only two because couldn’t get lost on first day. Think one was called a lager and then a snakebite because it sounded lol

No, I don't think there's anything quite like a pub. It's got to be a proper pub though, not a wine bar, or a chain. We call it a Boozer. But nobody cares if you drink booze or not. Have fun 😁

rivalsbinge · 25/07/2026 11:00

Oh blimey who suggested snakebite!! No wonder you only had 2 drinks that’s a pretty strong start. Where ar you in the UK I’m sure you can get some good recommendations.

PermanentTemporary · 25/07/2026 11:03

Good :)

I didn’t even think I was particularly a pub person until Covid when I missed them desperately. I drive around the county for work and prioritise going to pubs for lunch, drink breaks (and toilets). Major wellbeing uplift.

BillieWiper · 25/07/2026 11:05

I don't know who told you British people dislike Spanish people/Spain?! Half of us want to go live there when we retire! And I think a lot of people are interested in the varied cultures of the countries of central and south America. There are loads of South Americans in certain areas of London.

I'm glad you found everyone so friendly! That must be a nice pub. I think there are some where people are less likely to chat to strangers but I like sociable places where people mingle.

Snakebites are lethal - don’t drink too many 😂

I thought it was in central America? In fact I know it is.

PencilsInSpace · 25/07/2026 15:34

Snakebite has a reputation for being lethal but it's not really, it's just half a lager and half a cider with an optional splash of blackcurrant.

You're in the UK at just the right time to try some lovely light, summery hoppy ales OP. I've no specific recommendations because they tend to be very local but you want one from a pump like these and ask for recommendations

Gosh you came over so quickly! Only two days ago you were asking on here what it was like and thinking about working getting a job here so you could find a relationship. Amazing!

Pubs are awesome and people dont just go to them to go wild and party, some people go to the same pub several times a week and have "pub friends". This is called "a local" or "your local" and will usually be the nearest pub to your house.

Whosthetabbynow · 25/07/2026 16:36

I hope the locals are as lovely to you as the Mexicans in Mexico City were to my son and his friends when they were in the bars for the World Cup. He was blown away by the kindness and hospitality of everyone all enjoying the football together xx
